I cannot remember if I posted this in here or not. This is the one and only pic I got with my 90 Macro before the aperture stuck wide open. I havent gotten around to sending it in yet but hopefully will soon.

it is actually a 2 shot focus-composite, since the signature is about 3" behind the guitar's soundholes.
The story behind this guitar is here: Mark of a Master | Flickr - Photo Sharing! |

To those with the stuck aperture issue, HOW does one unstick the aperture?
I bought the 90 Macro in like new condition and took just one photo and the aperture is now frozen in wide open position. I will ship it away if need be but if there is some way to release it, i'd like to know. I do not mind opening it up if there is a relatively easy fix.
thanks!

i've always been a prime shooter. i do own a couple of zooms but i still treat them as primes, leaving them pretty much at a fixed FL and i find myself zooming with my feet on occasion, lol.

the only time zooming with my feet didnt work was new years eve when i climbed under the bay bridge and was hanging to some rock outcroppings on a steep hillside for a few hours waiting for the fireworks. My 31 was too tight and the 15 was way too wide, and there was no way i could move closer or further to reframe. i ended up making a pano using 1.25 frames of the image. now i have the DA21 for next year, haha.

i even slowed it down for the video to be more demonstrative. in the field, the lens swaps are even quicker, especially using the sling bag - mine is rearranged for top loading access so i can grab all the lenses from the top flap.

hmm, got it. i suspect with more practice changing lenses you will be able to do it efficiently and with minimal dust intrusion. On a given outing, i may change lenses 30 times or more; i don't even consider it a nuisance anymore as my eye has gotten pretty good at estimating the correct lens for the shot to prevent putting on the wrong lens.
Here is a vid i made a few years ago showing how i change lenses quickly to minimize dust. when in the field, i actually do this inside my sling bag while standing (no table). You Tube |

by superzoom, i mean one of those one lens fit all jobbies like 18-250, 55-300, etc... where you would be able to shoot wide to telephoto without changing. but a compromise in IQ vs what you have now.

sage, that will seriously limit you to a superzoom, possibly of mediocre quality.
why dont you like changing lenses??

TC is a tele convertor. mine is a 1.4x which means my 200mm on the lens with TC is about 280mm. They are an inexpensive way to add more reach with a slight loss in light and IQ typically.

My TC is the Tamron F 1.4x
officially, they are not compatible as manual focus does not work (grinds motor). optically, it is a good combination. i am still looking for a compatible TC for the 70-200.

200mm on the Tamron 70-200/2.8
i missed focus slightly and had some motion blur (handheld), but love the bokeh from this lens: Western Jay Cheetah |
