thanks Robin. I just set it to wide open in front of the Christmas Tree and as long as the subject is somewhat small, the lens does all the work. :p

whoops, in checking the metadata for that image, it was shot at ISO400.
Here are a couple from the same series that use ISO1600 and the Cosina 55mm: |

i think you'll be very happy with it - yes the focus ring has a different texture, but it appears identical otherwise. let us know.
love the representative pic you posted - that is one from DuhVinci, right??

huh? i just went back a page and caught up on the Groucho auction which i had totally missed...wow!
And now I must edit my earlier response to say no wonder Groucho's baby shots are so good, his Cosina was obviously better than any of ours!
lol. congrats Groucho.:D
who's got some pics to post?

i love every picture on this page - well done, everybody & great posts.
i too keep my Cosina dialed at 1.2 always because of the rich effect it produces. I do however, believe the softness at this aperture is a real thing, as i have done some comparisons of the in focus area vs stopping down and the sharpness of a smaller aperture is very apparent upon pixel peeping. Regardless, it is all a part of the overall image and often there is sonething to be said for a softer looking image. It absolutely does wonders for that B&W baby shot from Groucho - wow!

Jay, quit being modest...your Cosina holiday shots are well documented as drool worthy.
readers, please go back in this very thread to find Duh_Vinci's post #27 and jsherman's post #93, among others...
I was just trying to re-create your magical shots.

gus, happy to share. when you gonna be in the bay area? let's swap a lens or two and ship 'em back to each other after a week or so. i'm up for it! i also want to swap cameras with Gary D, haha, but that'd be a hard sell, im afraid.
