well, I was shooting vertical with the 25mm on 645 which creates a lot of wide angle distortion, so the individual frames were fairly bent. I let photoshop align them but I had to create masks manually to blend the frames due to the distortion. added some NIK color efex and some dodging in the water.

mattb knows his pano, that's for sure!
uh, but that part about increasing ISO...I think my camera may be a fixed-ISO model, it never goes above 100...:p

I've used HUGIN for years and really liked the degree of control afforded vs Photoshop, for instance, but these days, I am always in a hurry and just let Photoshop do it, not always with good results, however. What's good about Photoshop, is being able to keep all the layers separate to you can manually blend with masks.

exposure tips, sure. I am usually shooting panos during civil twilight or sometimes actual sunrise, so the light is changing during a single pano pass. I like to shoot from left to right and am mindful that the right end of the strip will have more light; depending on how long each frame is taking to shoot (30sec, 1 min, etc), I will decrease my exposure usually by 1/3rd stop every frame or every other frame to compensate.
To start, I identify the brightest area of the entire scene (usually behind the sun) and spot meter on the hottest point to assure I don't blow that area out. Always stay in M mode for fixed exposure - you do not want the camera to keep guessing exposure as you aim at frames of varying brightness.
Oh, and regarding stitching of moving objects like clouds, fog banks, waves that pass across the scene, I avoid shooting with their motion, would rather shoot in the opposite direction so as to reduce the repeat of that image. in other words, a fast moving left to right cloud could reappear in every frame you shoot if you are shooting from left to right. Start at the right and go left to prevent this.
hope this is useful!

ive been saving up for this and found a used rig on PF that came with 5 lenses. I just bought 3 more lenses to fill out the range. I am stunned at the images this thing produces. Have not had enough time to really get to know it like I know my K5, but with a little more practice, I know it will be an amazing tool. As operation/handling goes, the button locations are so similar to the K5/K7, that my fingers automatically fall into place with no retraining at all. Really a beautiful camera!!
