Yup! You should get more than what you are actually viewing.
From my experience, you get more additional image on the frame to the below and left of the viewfinder frame.
Since I know this, I usually frame my subject so that I compose more to the upper right since I know I will get the lower left anyways..in that way, I at times perfectly compose and center my shot as to where I want it.
It wasn't like the Nikon F3 SLR which had a 100% view that what you see is what you get.
