ogl, I would advise you to read more carefully what other people have written before getting on your high horse.
Zeiss Batis FE Sonnar T* 85mm f/1.8 definitely corresponds to a Tamron-patented formula, I did not write the contrary. What I have written, and I stand by it, is that Zeiss Batis, with 11 elements in 8 groups, on the one hand, the Tamron SP announced today, with 13 elements in 9 groups, on the other hand are two different lenses. Even if you are "sure" of the contrary, that "it's a marketing trick" and there is "no difference in optical design at all." Indeed, 13 elements instead of 11, why bother? That's the same, somebody just miscounted some pieces of glass.
As for the anticipated US price of Tamron SP 85mm f/1.8, may I suggest you to check whether the ratio between the Japanese price (¥90,000) and the US price ($649) of the other Tamron lens announced today, the 90mm macro, strictly corresponds to the ¥/$ exchange rate? (hint: domestic prices of Japanese products are often higher than export prices)
May I further suggest you to make the following, not so complicated calculation:
110,000 (Japanese price of Tamron SP 85mm) ÷ 90,000 (Japanese price of Tamron SP 90mm macro) x 649 (US price of Tamron SP 90 macro)
and post the outcome in this thread? ---------- Post added 02-22-2016 at 08:29 PM ----------
¥110,000 is without the Japanese so-called 'consumption tax'. ¥118,800 is the same price, consumption tax (8%) included.

Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 VC USD (Model F017) is ¥90,000 and $649.
Tamron SP 85mm f/1.8 Di VC USD is ¥110,000 and should therefore be around $799.
Optical formula:
- Tamron SP: 13 elements in 9 groups
- Zeiss Batis: 11 elements in 8 groups.
It's definitely not the same lens.

...and because Ricoh are probably paying for the adaptations needed to release the lenses in K mount.

Not necessarily, judging by the precedent of DA 55-300mm. ---------- Post added 02-22-2016 at 12:57 PM ----------
Why this dive bombing? Wrong thread?

Indeed but Tamron prices go down quickly. Less than one year after its announcement one can buy a lens at RRP minus 30 to 40 per cent.

The 90mm f/2.8 macro, I don't think so since there is the D FA 100mm macro WR; the 85mm f/1.8 would be pretty close to the FA Limited too. I think there are other gaps in the Pentax line-up to be stopped first.

The two Tamron lenses have been announced leaked by Digital Camera Info: ?????SP90mm F/2.8 MACRO VC???SP85mm F/1.8 Di VC????????????? - ????info
They are the SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 VC USD (Model F017), which seems to include the same optics as the current Model F004 but in a different package, and the SP 85mm f/1.8 Di VC USD (Model F016). They will be proposed in Canon EF, Nikon F and Sony Alpha mounts, the latter without VC.
Announcement tomorrow. Japanese RRPs are ¥90,000 (same as Model F004 at launch) and ¥110,000 respectively, plus consumer tax.
