The links are dead. Try this alternative website: Japan Platform for Patent Information|J-PlatPat [JPP] If a page in Japanese appears, click on 'English' on the very top of the page, a bit on the right side.

Copy the patents' publication numbers (2016-12094 for the first one and 2018-151588 for the second one) and click on the Search button. In the new page, click on the hyperlink with the same number as above under 'Publication number'. A new page ill open. Close 'Bibliography' on the left to speed up the process and browse the drawings on the right.

Note that the new 220,000-pixel metering sensor of the Canon EOS 90D, used for both metering and image recognition, brings about the ability to use face detection when shooting through the viewfinder (not eye detection though, only available in live view mode).

That would be perfectly possible with a semi-transparent mirror as in the Sony SLT and Canon Pellix cameras.

The difference with a conventional SLR would be that the entirety of the mirror would have to be semi-transparent whereas the sub-mirror / secondary mirror of a conventional SLR only occupies part of the image area.

This is interesting, however the patent is a bit old. The patent request was filed on 30 June 2014 (JP2014-134774) and published on 21 January 2016 (JP2016-12094A). What you saw is the patent being registered on 22 May 2019 (JP6515452B). Out of the 20-year protection granted by the patent, 5 years have already gone by.

The switchable hybrid viewfinder patent is more recent: the patent request was filed on 15 March 2017 (JP2017-049367) and published on 27 September 2018 (JP2018-151588A), the patent isn't registered yet.
