This is the best scan I’ve gotten from Kodachrome 64 so far on my CanoScan 9000F MkII. It's fairly obvious that software can't do much to lift the shadows.
Taken in summer 1975 from the Tunnel View in Yosemite. Left to Right: El Capitan (capped by cloud), Half Dome, Cathedral Spires, Bridal Veil Fall.

I shot this from a taxi in 1970 (at age 24). I had lived in Taiwan with my parents from 1948 to 1956; this was was my first and only return visit. Much economic and technological improvement had occurred since I went to the US in 1956, but this photo shows that Taiwan still had a long way to go before producing motherboards and chips for laptop PCs!
Shot with Contax IIa, Kodachrome 64; scanned and converted to monochrome with Silver EFex2. (Getting decent color from Kodachrome scans is difficult.)
