Is this a recent photo Arjay? Are you in Perth at the moment? I wasn't expecting to see a photo in here from my own (almost) back yard.

I was recently given a Rolleicord III that was my wife's grandfathers. Manufactured in the early 50s apparently. Speeds slower than 1/50 are rather sticky however other than that it's fine to use.
I've been quite pleasantly surprised by the detail resolved by the lens and also quite like the look in general. Noticeably less contrast than a modern lens and a lot more flare.

Ok. I've had this a couple of times recently too. I find I can live with it as long as it's small liike you describe.

I really like this - a classic layered landscape shot on 35mm film - nice!

Nice!
Neglible problems visible in this photo, IMHO. I looked at the bigger one on Flickr too.

Very clean blacks in that shot :)
...

I recently shot some photos of a more personal nature on HP5.
I under exposed the roll and was intending to push 2 stops in development, as I have done a few times with HP5 with good results.
However this time I forgot that I'd shot at 1600 and only developed at box speed  oops

Oh well, a good learning experience nonetheless. There was a little bit of latitude to adjust during and after scanning.
(And a pity the subjects looked at me rather than the camera!)

Oh even in sheet film? damn.
Based on appearance I have assumed these are backing paper marks. I've never shot anything larger than 120, is there a similar kind of paper backing in sheet film? Or am I perhaps assuming incorrectly?

There are a lot of black specks on the images from my roll. A friend had similar on a roll that I gave to him. At small sizes it's OK but anything larger it's very obvious. Too many to clean up like I would for dust :(

...don't look too closely or you will see small marks from the backing paper :(

I'm imagining that it took tuco a long time because he had to clean the bathroom first!

That's a real pity that you weren't able to return the second faulty one. Is it worth getting it fixed?

There's a lot of different scanners in use by members here and different approaches. Some also get scans done by a lab.
I haven't seen much "dslr scans" posted here, however that is another method which many people find works for them.

I personally use the Epson V700. It can be a bit fiddly to get good results. My biggest frustration when scanning is getting the film to lay flat and to get the focus right.

Thank you :)
Yes, I remember you mentioning the CB T* 60/3.5. That's the one I would like to get; sadly the cost is a bit prohibitive at the moment.
Although being Zeiss lenses it will likely always be expensive!

Cheers. A P67 and lenses are good too, and a bit more affordable than the Zeiss lenses for V series.

I'll have to find the photo I took of the front of that last car..

Interesting. I almost exclusively use the 80mm with the 500CM, with two film backs like you describe.
I did get the 150/4 a while back but seem to return the 80mm most of the time. I'd quite like to get the 60mm to try out too though.

Ok better post a photo to keep things going. This was an immaculate Mercedes from the 30s (I think).

Thanks tuco, you raise a good point about the depth of field; I tend to think about the focal lengh difference as in field of view and forget about how important depth of field is with these 6x9s.
I think my main issue with the GSW was that it's too wide for me. I used to enjoy using wide angles but these days feel much more comfortable with normal-ish lenses. :o

:D

Looks like you've been using both thhe Fuji GW and GSW recently. Do you have any thoughts on how they compare?
I sold my GSW690II a few months back, and kind of miss it. If I was to get another I was thinking of trying the GW rather than GSW.
I guess this is really just a subjective thing about the obvious differences in focal length. However being an owner of both, I'm wondering if you have any other insight...

I haven't had my hair cut since January and have taken to wearing a beanie to keep it from annoying me too much.
My wife thinks I look like some kind of scruffy Carl Sagan.

Hey Colton,

I just wanted to join with the others and say how much I appreciate your work and admire your creativity and vision.
I may not comment much these days, though I'm still here viewing it :)

I am hoping to purchase your book soon. Unfortunately the cost of getting it over to me in Australia is very high (though no fault of yours!); even so can hopefully make it happen soon.
Hopefully you won't run out of copies in the meantime.

Thinking of you, mate.
cheers, Jason

Even so, it's cool to see that you're out using that monster of a lens.
The longest I've shot with is a 400/5.6 on K mount and it brings different technical challenges to shorter lenses.

That is lucky. I'll have to check out my local thrift stores to see if I can find anything good.
Nothing like some almost free classic film to play with. I still have most of a bulk roll of Panatomic-X in the fridge that I ought to shoot :o
