Oh yeah it is processed to this pale/contrastless style. The original was too strong and contrasty for this kind of picture or I was just playing with the settings and prefered this
What I like is that it is sharp and smooth at the same time. Or sharp but smooth. (the eyes, at 1.4 and so close to his was face the DOF is thin of course)
EPL5's sensor is comparable to the K-5. In DR maybe the K-5 wins.

I totally agree with this. I also sold my K5 and my lenses (12-24, DFA100WR, 35 2.4, FA50 1.4 55-300) just kept the k200d body as it was my intro to Pentax and I really liked it. I bought some more expensive lenses like the Panny 25 1,4 and the 8mm Fisheye, not to mention the Oly 45 1.8 (which is a steal compared to it's performance) and the results are lovely, sometimes stunning with the EPL5. Do not feel any loss of IQ compared to the K5 which is really outstanding. What I've gained much smaller size!!!!, very good AF for general use (OK not tracking but the K5 was also not a sports camera), new gadgets like touch screen- really like that-even though I'm more conservative kind of person. So again I take my camera everywhere in this small fancy stylish Olympus Pen bag while my DSLRs kept staying at home before more and more. And although I have an Oly XZ-1 which is a very nice compact with one of the best if not the best lens found on a compact the sensor performance is day and night compared to the EPL5.
Panaleica 25 1.4 wide open on the EPL5:
Thanks for reading and looking:

Thanks for the feedback, eventually I went for the 25 1.4, as I got a good price for that and I couldn't resist so my original question is outdated a little bit now :) , and I really like the FOV. Yep, it's also personal choice what we like what we don't . I did some pictures with it this evening, and I really like it. AF perf is really good even under artificial poor lights. Its already sharp at 1.4. Much more usable at 1.4 than the Pentax FA50 1.4. ( I know different focal length, and price but both are 1.4). It really works nicely on the EPL5, and also I like it's look on the body especially with the hood. The only thing I don't like so far is that the hood doesn't fit on the lens on the other way so it uses extra space in the bag.
this one at iso 6400 f1.4 1/80 what a usable camera and combo!!

Hi all,
Just a question, anybody lucky enough here to have both the Oly 75 1.8 and the Pana 25 1.4 ?
Not going into deep scientific rating as both are regarded as top lens and of course different focal length totally..but which one you prefer for look, "wooW" factor?
Thanks ,

Thanks, useful feedback. I don't think the the VF3 would be any inferior to the Ricoh EVF I had and enjoyed a few years ago. Probably much better.

I've managed to loose the hot-shoe cover somehow...I saw it going down and disappearing in the lake.. :( not a big loss but immediately I was thinkinking about my future EVF
Anyway my first EVF came with my Ricoh GX100 and I really liked that combo.

Thanks Ivorie! I was actually thinking about the Oly Viewer program for RAW developing...but your answer is also very handy..as I'm about to sell my last Pentax lens and the EVF is seriously on my mind..I almost went to the Olympus-retailer...but decided to wait until that lens is sold...bye bye Pentax :( ..but that's another story.

Hi all,
Just a quick question, is the Oly Viewer 3 better than the 2?
Thanks, Andras

I've recently bought the Panny 8mm Fisheye for my EPL-5. I was thinking about the Samyang 7.5 , but as I also have the FE toy lens for my Q, I went for the Panny because of the AF. On close up (self) portraits the AF is really handy.

Yes that's a very good question. The 45 1.8 is just so good I really wonder who will spend that money for a big(ger), (ok brighter) manual lens. Also one of the things I like about m43 is that even though the lens can be fast, it's DOF is not that thin compared to crop of FF for the given aperture. Shallolw DOF is not always an advantage. For me f1.8 or f2 is enough.
Definitely not easy to take a picture of our cat with MF. :D
To be honest for me it's difficult to beat the 45 1.8 in terms of IQ/size/AF/price.

Eventually the weather cleared up a little bit so I could go out to give the 14-42 a try which came with the EPL-5.
The low iso IQ of the EPL-5 resembles (to me of course) to my highly praised k200D image output. Not an expert on this but both sensor has a weak AA filter-hence the similarity. Maybe :-)
