Geranium Johnson’s Blue
Used the K-01 on a tripod for the first time and focused manually with the assistance of image peaking and magnification. The view screen is much easier to use on a tripod than a viewfinder would have been. I forgot to turn off image stabilisation but I think I got away with it. |

I use Safari. I always convert my photos to the sRGB colour space when they’re destined for the web, which should maximise consistency across different platforms and browsers. You can never know for certain how your pictures are going to look to other viewers who may or may not be using calibrated monitors and may or may not have them adjusted to similar settings to those that you use.

A dramatic photo. You’re on the brink of overdoing the PP but the menacing clouds and vivid grass add to the eeriness of the picture. Good job! And congratulations on your 1000th post!

Here’s part of Winchester Cathedral shot with the DA 40mm Ltd at 3200 ISO. I think the K-01 has performed very well in these rather gloomy conditions. I’m pleased with the tonal range and the degree of detail.
By the way, if you notice that the far column is way out of the vertical, don’t blame the camera or the photographer. That’s the way it is. |

Thank you, JinDesu. Yes, focus peaking was very helpful, especially for wide aperture shots. Used with focus magnification it should make it much easier to achieve accurate focus with any fast manual lens.

I tried out the Voigtländer Nokton 58/1.4 on the K-01 yesterday. It's a heavy lens with rather a long focus throw but I found it quite a comfortable combination. |

A Barn Owl photographed at the Hawk Conservancy near Andover.
I used the DA 55-300mm at full zoom. Auto focus was sluggish but accurate. The photo was cropped from landscape to portrait orientation.
I'll be adding some more to my Album as I process them. |

A couple more from Beaulieu, this time with the Pentax-A 28/2.8. Both shot at ISO 3200, which I still think of as a very high ISO value (I can't remember ever going above 400 ASA in the old days). The K-01 sensor takes it in its stride. |

Here are some photos taken with a manual focus lens, the Pentax-A 50/1.4, at the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu.
The first and last were shot at ISO 1250, the second at ISO 3200.
The absence of an electronic viewfinder is a non issue for me. I find the 3 inch view screen with image magnification and focus peaking superior for manual focusing. |

Ha ha! If only! It’s a National Trust property called Hinton Ampner. I find it a good place to try out new cameras or lenses. I'm pleased you liked the photos. I'm about to post some more from this superb little camera.

No best shots yet but here are some test shots taken at ISO 1250 or 1600 in fairly dim mixed lighting.
