Thank you. At 4 months old, she doesn't have any choice but to sit still and model for Dad...

I don't really like the word bokeh, because I think people use it to mean different things. I prefer to think about out of focus rendering. Some lenses definitely are better at smoothing out backgrounds that are pretty cluttered, while with others it stays distracting, even if it is somewhat blurred.

This is a DA *55 shot of Grape Hyacinths at f2.

The 100 is definitely usable as a portrait lens. If there is a problem with it, it is that it is too sharp. You sometimes have to soften things a little bit in post. Focus can also be slow-ish if it misses focus. You are best using quick shift to turn it to infinity and use it that way.

I would prefer either the 77 or the 50-135 as a pure portrait lens. 50-135 is more flexible, but it is big. Really big compared to the DA limiteds. For me, if I were getting a prime to shoot portraits, I would get the DA *55 or the FA 77. From a zoom standpoint, the 50-135 can't be matched. The only reason I would get the 100 macro is if you want the ability to close focus and do macro shots as well.
