The "In the same folder" and "add to catalog" have turned out to be pretty close to what I needed. I select 'em, export that way, then when it's done, just right click on one of the selected (PEF) images, select delete images. Everything works like a charm. Thanks for your help!

I know how to export 'em, and how to import 'em. I don't want to do *all* of them, which is why I'm looking for a process to convert in place.

Thanks, though; the 'add to catalog' thing is something I hadn't noticed and might smooth it out a bit. I'll give it a shot later.

I've been using Lightroom for some time (since 1.4, I think), and I understand most of its functions. I use it as my library manager as well. I always shoot raw, then import the images to the library. I do back up the library, as well.

Here's my problem. My library has now grown to ~ 300GB on my laptop. Those are all raw files. I would like to convert many of them to jpg.

I *know* how to *export* jpgs from lightroom; what I'd like to do is convert them *in place*, "destructively", to jpgs (to recover space on the drive without taking images out of the library). I've got backups of the original raw files in case I decide I want to reprocess one later.

Anyone know an easy way to do this? I've started on it, but it's tedious: Build quick collection, export quick collection to jpgs@90%; delete masters; re-import jpgs. Anyone got a better workflow to accomplish this task?

Thanks in advance!

Steve
