Another water related shot. Boat day here on the island yesterday so it was out on the water with the sailing craft. Strong trade winds really moved these vessels along.

Okay, now i can understand what you are getting at Christian.Thanks for the full answer. I use photoshop so have a different workflow and different challenges. I seldom use jpegs straight from camera, but i have always thought that the need for pp was operator error rather than camera error. :)
All my photos get processed in some way so I just havent thought about getting jpegs to be okay from the get go. Lots of different subject matter and contexts so i am not sure one formula will match all picture taking situations. (Following a tip i read in a magazine artcle some years ago one common strategy i do is pull the black level slider up a bit and pull the white level slider down a bit rather than using the contrat slider.)

More details needed. Have you tried some alternate 'styles'. I use 'natural' rather than 'bright'. Or could the issue be at a different point such as monitor or processor? As i dont know what your issues are dont know how concerns can be addressed. :)

Interesting comment. I also set my K3 to underexpose.
K20D also needed adjustment for me particularly with the DA16-45mm lens, but in he opposite direction.

Thank you for the comment - this anemone was in a tank with other bioluminescent creatures - the whole tank looked like it was from the set of an 'Avatar' film shoot.
