Wyalkatchem Fam Machinery Museum
The Naughton 'home made' tractor:
From the museum card: - "The tractor was built by Joe Naughton in 1976 at Yorkrakine (WA). The custom made parts Joe made for the tractor included the main and sub-frames, drop box and cab etc. The tractor is powered by a 220 hp Leyland engine mated to a 10 speed Leyland gearbox.
The drop-box was made using helical cut gears running on shafts fitted with Timken taper roller bearings. This box gave trouble free running for the 14 years of the tractor's working life. The Clark planetary differentials fitted to the machine wore out eventually."
The business end of a neighbouring machine.

Ahoh, three elephant jokes in one thread - this thread is way off beam now - (maybe even doomed?)

Try to fit a tractor into this joke:
How can you tell there is an elephant in bed with you?
It has an E embroidered on its pyjama pocket.

Why thank you, it was a corruption of an elephant joke - I love elephant jokes. :-)
Why did the elephant paint its toenails red?
So it could hide in a strawberry patch.
Want any more? ;-)

Why did the farmer buy a tractor with yellow hubs?
So he could hide in a Sunflower field.

Lots of agriculturally related tractors in the thread - how about a well marinated version:

Simple web search found this: Tail End Charlie The Tractor
It is indeed a Chamberlain. And it is still alive in a tractor museum but a replica is still kicking.

On the main road through Wickepin in Western Australia's wheat belt is a graveyard for dozens of tractors. There is a tall chain link fence around the property and most of the vehicles seem to be collapsing into rust piles: ---------- Post added 01-26-17 at 01:42 PM ---------- Located at the tip of Cape York, the town we live in gets periodic visits by various clubs and organisations for cruise or endurance events. In 2006 the Chamberlain tractor club of western Australia paid the region a visit. The local agricultural 'show' was on so they did a drive past in the events. These vehicles had done a huge mileage to be here hence the body work and the ear protectors. Read more on their website. |
