All of that is well appreciated. And I couldn’t tell you if the Tamron combination outresolves the 36Mp sensor. But I do know that the results are very sharp at 100% with the TC. I have no intention of using the TC on my Sigma 400/5.6, as intriguing as that may seem (I’m not even joking to think that my 500mm f/8 mirror lens would outresolve it). |

Disagree there. The Tamron 1.4x TC with Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 is an absolute dream to shoot telephoto with on the K-1. It is as fast focusing that lens with the TC applied than without, and the IQ on the lens with the TC applied is as good as I can make out at 100% with any other high quality lens. It is a joy to finally have this a reality when all my previous cameras had slower AF and obvious focusing difficulty causing a degradation of IQ with this combination.

That is what I meant, because we can’t have the impossible, but Pentax can make a quality lens of its own that is at least comparable to its rivals.

It may be speculation, but it is based on some good predictions (road map, etc): the 70-200/4 is being worked on for the Pentax FF. If that's the case, perhaps later this year or early next year there will be a good lightweight counterpart to the 28-105.
