How to get no water marks on negs?

I wash my film with tap water (fairly hard) but do a final rinse with distilled water.
I then hang it in the shower which has been running for a few minutes (hot water) overnight.
Usually I will also run a microfibre cloth (gently) down both sides of the film.

So far (touch wood) I have not had any water spots.
