I'm the cool one. Musos are our improv musicians... they're all ridiculously talented.

... looks like a lot of us share the same watchlist.
Ordered a 77mm last week from Expert Infotech... no word on it being shipped yet, so hope all's well there!
I also ordered a flash last week from another outfit - with a buy now on Zillion - but they're refunding that at the moment after finding they didn't actually have it in stock.
How often to you guys window shop Canon, Nikon etc.? I do it alarmingly regularly. Always come back to deciding Pentax was the right choice, but every time I empty my wallet on a Pentax purchase I get these darn fangled commitment jitters.

Yep, pretty sure it'll be a fine focal length. The theatres I shoot in have steep rakes, so I'm always close.
Haha... we'll see.
It is, aye? Giving customers the benefit of the doubt is so important. He didn't know anything about Pentax. It was really odd, because when I started to explain he kept talking over me and then pulled out a pile of his own theatre photography - it was average!! I almost wondered if I was getting the condescension because I was at least 40 years younger... and female...
Hee, you can tell I'm still bothered by this man. His name's on the front of the store- that's not how you behave when you want business!

Hi all,
Shooting mainly people or theatre performances, I'm thinking of adding something a little nicer to my lenses. I currently have the Tamron 17-50 f2.8, and an m42 50mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.8.
Am looking at the 31mm Limited lens (guess I'd be buying off ebay).... any caveats or better suggestions?
Oh -- btw, what is with camera salesmen?! I went into a store the other day and was talking to the man who owns it. He had such a air of incredulity and disdain that I was using a Pentax camera. Of course, he did explain rather pompously to me this wonderful thing called "image stabilisation" that I should be switching to Canon for... but man, when people in camera stores brush you off it doesn't do wonders for your confidence. I actually have been looking into Canon recently, just to reassure myself I made the smart choice before I go buying any expensive lenses.. and it just makes no sense to me to have thousands sitting in a system for ultimately similar usability and image quality.

Agreed. My K20d was from them, and for around $1600. It was however an Asian copy - with no English manual for example.
Also, watch the einfotech brigade. Every time I emailed them with a question about the camera they would nudge the price up... with it not having gone up once in the weeks preceding my emails.

Aye, true on both counts. Problem is, I'm a terrible photographer, newly arrived from a superzoom. I'm keen on learning within some limitations!
Thanks for the info. Will keep my sleuthing outfit on.

Sweet. I have an 85mm f1.8 on the camera, and what a treat it is! Yeah, those little extras would be nice, but focusing manually also makes me put more time into shots... and that's a nice thing to be forced to do.
A zoom... that's interesting- I hadn't really considered one (I guess I like the way a prime trains my eye). Speed is also important to me, since most of my photos are taken under stage lights. If you've any suggestions, I'd be really keen to hear them.

$3000?! Holy moly... I'd rather put that money towards developing thousands of candids, rather than one fake moment!
Hi, Transit and Arpe. Nope, I've not tried the trap in focus function- will give it a spin!

Hi... thanks for the welcome chaps.
It sounds like you speak from experience! Nope, I'm all good in the hood here. Didn't get the kit lens 'cause my father thankfully held onto his old m42 lenses. That said, a fast wide-angle prime is something I don't have... and would rather like.

Hi all, new here. I bought a K20D a few weeks ago.
I'm really glad I went with Pentax.
