The Aluminum Overcast visited my town of Kearney, Nebraska a few years ago. I think that it is a wonderful example of a wartime B-17 :)

I have 300 hours crew member flying time in various U.S. Airforce C-47s during the early 1960s. Great old airplane!

I have a soft spot in my heart for these old girls. I served on them for four years during my service in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965 :)

That was a couple of years after I was there with the United Nations, stationed in Biak, in what is now West Irian.

I love old DC3's. I served on one (C-47) in the U.S. Airforce many years ago. 3 and a half years, part in Japan, part in New Guinea, part in the U.S. Great old airplane, older than I was when I was flying on them. I guess that any that are still flying are older than me now. I'm 74.

This is the interior of the Ford Tri-Motor aircraft and it was the first practical all metal airliner. It was introduced in 1929. It had a capacity of eight passengers. It's top speed was about 80 mph. Each engine (3 engines) had a HP of less than 450 hp. This aircraft was restored and new engines were installed. The New engines were 450 hp each. :)

This was a Ford Tri-Motor that spent a few days at my local airport, courtesy of the Experimental Aircraft Association this summer. A little adjustments made on the photo to my pleasure. :)

Great shots of both the B-17 and the B-24. You did a good job of lighting the interior shots too. :D

I took this photo of the B-17 "Aluminum Overcast" while it was visiting my home town. |
