In all of this ignorance, I had the opposite reaction. When people see my K100D Super with the kit lens, lens hood and Sigma 530 flash, some think (and ask) it is an "exotic" (read really expensive) pro system. One time I was shooting some cars and I heard people talking behind me "I can't even imagine how many megapixels that thing must have..." just as I glanced the screen. I looked and smiled at them, but never told them the truth of 6 Mp. :)

That has happened to me a few times, especially with teenagers carrying entry level Canikons. The kit lens hood and the big Sigma 530 flash grab their attention. And if I use a flash bracket.... ohh what an exotic rig! Must have cost a fortune! :D

My good friend Mike, which I call "My spiritual leader in the dark world of photography" says it all in his online signature: "Amateurs worry about equipment. Pros worry about money. Masters worry about light" |

We have a local forum/club and we meet frequently. I'm the only active pentaxian among dozens of Canikons, 2 or 3 Sonys and 2 or 3 Olys. A few weeks ago I was shooting a sporting event (Gasp!) and a Canon shooter next to me looked at me, saw my Pentax and asked: "Are you Ismael?" I was stumped and he said "I figured it out by the Pentax" He happened to be a rather quiet member of our forum. He complimented me on my role in the club and we had a nice chat for a few minutes.
So... Does that make me unique or notorious? :D
Thanks,
