I'm not certain but I think you are correct, it was really hard to find closeup photos, and so many plants look just a little different in different stages of bloom, plus I think the species may have been cultivated and has some different varieties.. And I did not get the leaves in the photos enough to tell.

I went to a place I've never been to today, a place called Cedar Bog, which is actually a Fen and not a bog. You have to stay on a boardwalk, which was fine because most of it is covered with water and there are Massasauga Rattle Snakes there. Part of it was grassland, hardwood swamp forest, cedar forest, and savannah.
