Digitalis, that Monochrome sensor and the 7-elemnt smc FA 43 must be a match made in heaven :) (except for the lack of proper frameline support for that FL hehe).

77 is difficult for me cause it really needs a subject to draw its full potential, but when you have one, boy, does it render :). BTW, I don't think I am every going back to anything other than Capture One :) plus occasional photoshop for some circumstances.
I just realised 77 is great for dogs, and I've always known the 43 is is the lens for cats :D. Not sure what is the preferred animal for the 21 and the 31 :D

I have a simple adapter with no AF capabilities - the adapter itself is not loose. It's an urth/gobe brand one. So just manual focusing, which I find a joy with the EVF and super good and hi-res back screen.

SMC, yes. I think the coating works really well with this sensor or it could be the microlenses in the sensor that give extra pop/microcintrast? Also I think the 24MP is a good pixel pitch for this glass. Not the least, Nikon's sensor metering is also doing wonders.
I was going for the eye, but at 2.8 with the EVF and the good back screen it's close to 'easy'. Practicing casual shots will soon make you better at guessing what will be in focus in the end.
