Wow, just stumbled across this remarkable Depeche Mode cover band. It's a guy from Columbia and his two kids. The guy uses kids' toys and coke bottles as instruments: You Tube |
src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BxQSEvHdyjQ?controls=1" allowfullscreen> |
And this one is very good, too. He uses an electronic toy for the melody: You Tube |

I'm quite surprised to have found this. He and his children have put together some great stuff! I guess they have a facebook page, too. Warning: if you are not familiar with these heavy synth based Depeche Mode songs, these covers will sound odd to you. As a DM mode fan, these are right on the money.

Depeche Mode is my favorite. I'm bummed they are not coming to New England this year. Brooklyn is the closest.
Their original songs are so good, it's hard for remixes to do them any justice. This is a good one, but other remixes of their last two singles haven't been that great.
Royksopp just did a cover of DM's Ice Machine: You Tube |

And if you like Dave Gahan's voice, don't miss the last Soulsavers album where he was vocalist on all tracks on the album: You Tube |

Not sure I've seen any better videos than what Metronomy has put out over the years. They're some of the most creative around. This one is about a dream.

John Foxx era Ultravox was definitely much better. I'm not a Midge Ure fan at all. The two recent albums by John Foxx and the Maths are excellent. You Tube |

Fat Freddy's Drop's Flashback is a great track, but the epitome of that tune is Jazzanova's Mashed Bag Mix. An absolute classic: You Tube |

Yes, good tune and always reminds me of that movie.
Here's a group from the 80's who had lots of catchy tunes and were also able to have success in the 90's. They even had an album out a year or two ago. You Tube |

Anyone know why the youtube embed code here ([yt][/yt]) doesn't work anymore?

Great synth tune from 1982 about photography (WARNING NSFW!!!): Peter Godwin - Images of Heaven NSFW video
Needless to say, MTV wasn't appreciative of erotic photography in videos and they didn't play it.
He then made a 2nd one to get airplay: Peter Godwin - Images of Heaven (clean video)
The song features great lyrics about photography: And there's nothing I can do
The camera made you
There's nothing I can do
'cause you don't exist
You don't exist
Just images of heaven
that take me to hell
Images of heaven
Of something for sale |

I wonder if they are going to tour N. America. Right now, I think it's just the UK and Australia. His voice is getting a little weak for all the old Roxy tunes, but I'd still go see them.

Olympia was supposed to be the next Roxy album, but for whatever reason, it became just another Ferry. Maybe the rest of the band wasn't up for all those schmoozy ballads he loves to put on his solos. Olympia is good, but perhaps one too many droll songs.

Speaking of New Order, this alternate video for Round and Round featuring only 1 model (the original video featured several) is breathtaking in that it's pretty much just an entire moving headshot of Patty de Silva. She is so sexy with those simple looks to the camera, and the twisting of the head.
