Wonderful shot. When viewed in conjunction with the shot above it (thanks ERDS), My eye convinced my brain that I was looking down from above (hence the flying saucer). Now that I see it's a view upwards, I still love the perspective.

OK, the 4th shot has me baffled! The one after the cathedral and before the rushing train. It has me thinking about being on the top of a flying saucer. Truly nice perspective distortion. What is it?

Now that is truly realistic, but is missing so much interseting detail from street level.
The HDR processing truly helps this situation.

I can appreciate your viewpoint, but honestly, I've been to Philadelphia many times and actually been on the roofs of about seven buildings in the picture (I used to work for a company that manufactures, installs and services permanently installed window washing scaffolds). I firmly believe that most of the colors are very close to natural and the only real unnatural aspect is the changes caused by the HDR processing without which the street level would be very heavily shaded. I say excellent job.

And that's exactly why I believe in "Protective" Filters.

I have a Hoya Pro1 Digital MC UV(0) on mine. The hood alone does not provide a lot of protection on this 77mm lens front and the filter is beautifully thin. OK, it's not cheap if I scratch the filter, but it's certainly cheaper than actually scratching the lens. And, it doesn't effect the IQ much.
YMMV

Have no idea what the problem was. ---------- Post added 11-28-14 at 07:31 AM ----------
Yes, Depth of Field can be an amazing tool when used creatively.
Looks good.

I can't see the attached photo, just an X'd box. Is it me? I'm still using XP and an older version of IE

Be careful when you tilt the lens down. Make sure your shoes are clean and polished!

I find the compositional rules pretty simple. Try to keep the camera shooting level (not up or down) to keep the distortions under control. Get something interesting into the close foreground and be careful of odd bits getting into the background or corners of the scene. Use a hyperfocal distance or focus on something about 1/3 of the way into the desired scene.
These basics work for me usually. YMMV,

That's a good point also. Adorama is a real good company to deal with. I live in the New York Metro area and have been dealing with them for a really long time. I actually bought my Super Program from them back in the day. Never had a problem or anything to complain about.

Have you contacted CRIS about this yet? You may want to and possibly contact Sigma to confirm that CRIS is an authorized Sigma Warranty Repair Center. The main words there are "Authorized" and "Warranty".

The typical problem with Polarizers on the 10-20mm is the wide range of sky that you get with the extra wide view. The angle of the sun's rays changes drastically from one side of the scene to the other. I could easily see the difference while using my Hoya Pro1 Circular Polarizer on my 10-20. So much so that I don't use it much any more.

I'm looking forward to the differences in photos as I am currently stepping up from my trusty old K10D to my just received new K5ii (one of the last that Amazon had to sell). The K3 was out of reach for me now (and probably overkill for my level of photography)

What do you think the FA31 would have done for you that the Sigma didn't accomplish, in this shot?
