I'm liking the output of the 50mm already, seems pretty nice. I'll have to read up on the manual, but I'm thinking it'll be a keeper, the 18-135 will make a good walk around, which is one lens I've never particularly cared to spend on but always thought would be handy to have around occasionally.

The package arrived this morning. Battery, charger, 60d, 18-135mm...and a 50mm f1.8 as a surprise, hahaha! This should be a fun test run, controls are completely foreign to me. Considering I paid almost (or rather only) half of what the body-only sells for used on ebay, I'm a happy camper.

The 20mm is definitely one of the gems in m4/3 mount - I got a used one (pristine though!) for $300 shipped. Prices are high due to short supply at the moment, I waited to get one for that amount as the retail values are too high - $300 is the perfect price for the 20mm, at that amount it is worth every penny. I enjoy using a couple of my pentax lenses, the 43mm is amazing on m4/3 for portraits and with the smaller size sensor it is also great for macro shots.

Last week I got the Pentax AF-A 1.7x teleconverter to pair with my tamron 300mm f2.8 - really enjoyed using the pair trying to catch some eagles this past weekend...that'll take some practice to master though!

Also greatly missed owning the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 lens on micro 4/3 - currently own the sigma 30mm f1.4 on K mount but have decided to go back to the 20mm (roughly equivalent) - the size and something just a little intangible have made me miss the 20mm too much! (should be on my doorstep when I get home today)

Finally, I randomly found a screaming deal on a returned Canon 60d with 18-135mm - never tried a canon camera out, at the price I bought it for it'll make for a fun test drive. Will arrive next week. Lots of toys to play with, just as the weather is becoming unseasonably warm...perfect timing.

I miss toronto for that. There are nicer neighborhoods than others to be sure, but there are few downright, don't go there, bad neighborhoods to speak of, at least that I recall from growing up - I miss that!

I'm honest with my purchases...I tell her how much it put me in the hole, and what I'll be selling to cover the difference! If it is a real big purchase, I bribe with like funds into her spending account (we each have our own fun money accts to spend as we wish, works surprisingly well!) :)

Mid November I bought This Tamron 300mm F2.8 from Stormtech (another member) along with This very nice Kinesis telephoto case.

Realizing that lens needed some better support, I managed to scrounge enough funds together to get a Feisol CT-3471 Tripod and a Jobu Jr Gimbal head complete with camo lenscoat. The Jobu is supposedly a factory second, but it sure fooled me.

I've heard my wife has purchased me an annual zoo pass (ok, I picked it up myself, hahaha), can't wait to put all of that to good use!

My first digital camera was a sony mavica...the ones with the cd-r drives. You mean I can take a whopping 150mb worth of photos on a disk that is a fraction of the price of those triple digit, 64mb memory cards? This is the wave of the future!!!

8 years later my 8gb eye-fi card ($58) creates its OWN wifi network, transfers files to my phone while out shooting, which then get transferred to my picasa galleries online and later uploaded to my pc when I return home.

Where in the hell will we be in another 8?

It sure isn't that small - I'd take an oly e-pm1 over the new nikons any day of the week.

The 14mm is a nice compact little lens!

Yep, only a fee for the actual sale of approx 3%. You can do it is a private transfer, but I would 100% recommend against that as paying the 3% fee protects both you and the buyer.

I just picked up a White K-x with the 55-300mm 2 lens kit for $450 on ebay last week, pretty happy about that one! Selling my Panasonic G3 and 100-300mm lenses to (more than) cover it.

You know, I've heard that once money is in your paypal account you can also transfer it to your bank account...it isn't a requirement that it be re-spent on new gear!

That is the only way to Ebay these days. I use Gixen to snipe. If you get in a bidding war you'll end up paying more (or rather paying more than you wanted). If I snipe, I set the price - if I lose, I lose! Granted there are rare items that can get pretty crazy, but I haven't gotten into any of that myself...yet.

Back when I bought the original Left 4 Dead in 2008 I played massively low-specced using hdmi out to a monitor on an HP laptop that supposedly had dedicated video (it didn't, liars, biggest piece of crap computer we've ever owned!). I played it on that until Left 4 Dead 2 came out - it simply couldn't handle it.

I promptly went out and got a refurb HP desktop with an AMD quad core and 8gb ram - even though it is an HP it runs pretty well. Added an ATI Radeon 512mb card (I think the 4570) and a new power supply, and it runs l4d2 full spec no problem at 1080p (my 23 inch monitor resolution). Cost less than $450 and still runs great.

That M11x was kind of a whim purchase, the new prices get pretty steep but I managed to get a refurb with a 20% coupon for under $500 and figured it would be nice to have!

Duh, Winning.

Anyone that games here play L4D or L4D2? That is basically all I play, unmatched co-op gaming!

I guess that leads to my latest acquisition. An Alienware M11x (11.6" screen, core2duo, 4gb ram with 1gb dedicated graphics card) for gaming on the go...and, uh photo editing? haha.

Over the weekend I went to the F-Stop Swap, which is a semi-annual camera swap held here in the Twin Cities.

I picked up 2 Honeywell Tilt-a-Mite flashes that look like they were from the 50's, they look similar to the flash up in Mike's post at the top of the page, only they fan out and fold compact - figured they would be a cool decorative set (both were in the $1 bins, one had never been out of its' protective pouch, still had the dial covered with new package plastic adhesive covering!).

Bargained down the Tilt-a-Mites and a small Voigtlander filter pouch that'll hold some memory cards to all 3 for $2, haha.

In the show I also got a square hood made for the 35mm F2.8 Takumar lens. It is mint, and has a turn based tightening ring to attach to 49mm filters, which was a part of it (an SMC takumar filter), and the accompanying case to go with the hood and filter for $5.

Finally, got myself a Tamron 2x 7 element BBAR teleconverter new in the box for $30.

Not a bad haul for $37!

After 6 weeks of waiting (and my order saying it will be processed in 3-5 business days), finally received my Panasonic 7-14mm/f4 for my gf1. Can't wait to get to the ballpark next week! (the new target field that is...)
