actually it's a lot better than desecrating a Pentax lens for Canon use. I can still remember that FA*300/2.8 gotten butchered badly. that one gave me nightmares.

money well spent. I mean, what's the point on buying a gear for thousands of dollars with a great build and tremendous tolerance capacity if you're not even subjecting it to the pressure?

I understand what you meant. I would think that the brand argument comes in mind not because people that use an specific brand would make them more knowledgeable but of the false notion that a certain camera brand is more popular makes the user knowledgeable of the camera being used. actually it is quite sad really that people do believe that if they shoot a certain camera would make them instantly good photographers. to be honest, branding itself make people stupid. just like how Iphone did to our society.

note to self, don't buy an equipment that you have no idea of using it at it's full capacity.

if asked the question, did those people intentionally used the pop-up flash or had it set automatically without the intention of knowing it's real purpose? even more ridiculous are people using intentionally using a pop up flash on subjects that are over 20 feet away.

I thought they'd say British. :D

not undermining Canadians in a way, but I find British people more formal and mild-mannered compared to Canadians. and I love the accent. I would had preferred Canadians to speak in such manner.

so Pentax = Amateur? what a stupid comment. he was lucky though that the person wasn't a professional holding a 645D or even an old 645, otherwise he would have gotten a lecture that brand has nothing to do with a person's photographic capacity. although, I would had love to see a Pentax user argue, hey I'm using an Medium Format camera, you must be an idiot not to knowing what it is.

I hate to say this but branding and media overexposure and somehow false advertising can really cause stupidity to a number of people nowadays. I'm not saying that branding is bad, because it is also a determinant of quality but not to the extent of making people believe that it is the only existing quality product out there or it the best brand out there. the question is, the best in which department? people seem to fail to do some real analysis. I guess that's what separate the truly aware from the clueless ones.

easy, get yourself a big looking camera (K20D) with a battery grip on and put on a honking DA* zoom (50-135) and tell them that you are a talent agent taking photos of potential models. ;)

Wow, that pricing would be categorized under imports. funny since the cameras are manufactured locally but still sold at MSRP locally. locals must really be pissed.

well, it's not just about seeing and handling but more on advertising and promotions as well. the biased camera store staff also does a disservice to the brand as well. for what it's worth brand has become synonymous to the product as well and this creates stupidity in a way for the buying and uninformed public that brand won't make them good photographers.

can't blame the fella for holding the lens that way. the regular canon lenses are heavy than the regular Pentax lenses. the guy might had gotten tired of holding the lens in an underhand position. I do this sometimes, especially with heavy lenses, to avoid straining my wrist.

one of the reasons that makes Pentax rare are due to ignorance by commoners and magnified by strong advertising campaign by other brands.

I was having a Pentax transaction with a person recently, when suddenly a bum who should be minding his own business started to involve himself into the fray which was done right rude. we were just ignoring him and continued with our talk. then the bum suddenly said "you are better off with a Canon" then went his way. I think the bum was just there to annoy us, but I just can't believe even these dumb jerks are fooled into believing that brand would make you better. same analogy for car brands. point is, we are rare due to people's ignorance.

hmmmm....I dont think you purposely robbed the boy. besides, it's a garage sale, and garage sales usually dirt cheap no matter what their current price in the market is. so it's up to them on how they value their old items and it's a matter of personal research, not yours. you can call yourself a vulture but you are just playing the nature of a deal.

it's kinda funny and ultimately silly though that some people say it's a garage or used sale items yet they sell it for a market price value. now that one is what you call false advertising robbery.
