I am often mixed up. I had forgotten that the 24-70 was available now at market :o. Though I was probably having some confusion with the D FA standard zoom still on the roadmap.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Arena sports with a 50mm sounds like a good match to me, for all the reasons you noted. The yet to be released D FA 24-70/2.8 would be a real winner for that kind of shooting too.
