Helios 44-2 (Zebra) It's a step less aperture but I do know I shot it somewhere between f2 and f2.8.

Maybe one day you can show me! I have a flash I really should play with more often.

FA 77 @ f5

---------- Post added 06-09-16 at 01:33 PM ----------

Oh and I'll post this photo as more of a showing of ISO performance as I rarely ever went over 800 on my K3.

This is shot with the FA 77 @ f2.8 and ISO 1600, 1/60th a second at night under 2 florescent lights. All i did in photoshop camera raw was adjust the exposure +0.7 and slight bump to vibrance/saturation

full size if people are interested

FA 77 @ f1.8

Crop of above shot. While it has been cross processed, the 77 wide open is definitely sharp!

by f4 the Helios 44-2 is pretty sharp, but a lot less swirl. I should have taken some images at 2.8 to see if I could get the best of both worlds with sharpness and swirl.

I'm sure it's not the sharpest copy of the Helios 44-2 out there, but that said, the wife doesn't like every pore and eye makeup glob visible anyhow

Very nice picture, can you post a 1:1 crop of the head/body. I'm not pixel peeping I just find the picture great and want to see it larger.

But why when you could just use the K3 for the added reach! I'm actually just bugging, I have a tele-converter in the mail on it's way. I didn't quite get why I read posts saying if you go full frame you can't do this or do that.

As someone who's used the astrotracer on the K5IIs and K3 I feel that it wasn't used in this photo, and if it was the motion is from wind. Heck at 10 seconds I don't think the astrotracer would even be needed to eliminate star trails

Wonderful shot. It may not be trailing in the corners bUT coma distortion stretching out the points of lights at the extreme edges of the photo?

I imagine it'll make a awesome landscape lens, and I'm still considering buying one myself. I just not sure I'd recommend it for stars/milkyway type shots, but then again I don't have one and just judging from a few shots I have seen with the lens via 3rd party. The picture by Pinholecam is very nice indeed.

I know someone who has the Rokinon 14mm. It looked pretty sharp but I think the corners had quite a bit of coma.

Maybe I'm being picky.

Honestly I've never had issues finding Pentax in local stores in Edmonton. McBains always carries bodies and lenses and if they don't have a lens in Stock they will special order it in for you. Dons photo before they closed in Edmonton had a large selection as well. London Drugs and Vistek usually have some selection. Vistek will special order some pentax stuff as well. Usually go to McBains thou. Just ordered the 77mm from them. They'll have it transferred from another store over night

Well duh if I can't post every skin pore what's the point. I did mention that with full frame it is a wider field of view so it would be easier to fit my big fore head from arms length

Out of the many things to check off the list of things I'd like to see in the K1 a screen seen from the front of the Camera is pretty low on that list. It's the only thing I could think of that would even be put as a con for the LCD. I rather take build quality, but you might be on something on the WiFi. Of course with the larger field of view with the same lens maybe I'll have better chance fitting my large forehead in family selfies lol

My non important and non expert opinion was that I liked it. There's a difference between playing with it in a store and out in the field using it.

I'd like to have had more time to see what options for the optical display were available. When focus tracking was on, it used a black square to move from focus point to focus point. I personally like the red indicator look but I'd have to use to for a day to get a actual feel for it. The larger view however is nice to look thru.

Tried the 77mm as that is a lens I want to get next, and nothing changes after playing with it. The other lenses i quickly tried out was the 70-200 and the new kit lens. Both felt very solid and felt high quality. I'm not going to say how well they perform as i couldn't save pictures but they felt well made. The new full frame lenses are pretty "large". By that I mean I'm used to apc lenses and I'm sure they are average for being fast full frame lenses.

The third dial is actual nice. I know some have stated that once you setup the camera you'll probably use it less and less and that may be true, but as someone who was using it for the first time it was nice not going thru the menu. Go to dial and check out the grids. Go to dial and try crop. Go to dial and check iso control. We'll see how long term it is but I found I was only pressing the iso button and back dial to adust out of habit. I over all liked the third wheel.

The only thing that was disappointing is that the DA 1.4x tele-adapter isn't fully full frame compatable. With it and the 50-135 there was darker corners, however that said with images to play with I can probably fix some in post. I can safely say you would have to crop no more than 3-4% of the image using that kind of configuration.

The LCD felt secure and durable. It will be nice when working on certain macro shots or when the tripod is in a odd height. I part of me wishes you could make it visible from the front. It's fun on trips to put a wide angle and get a picture of the wife and I, or now that I have a little one and do the "selfie" together. But that's what burst is for and it's digital so it's not going to cost you to take a couple extra attempts.

Lastly the buttons felt very nice. It took me a moment to find the image review button cause I'm used to looking for it in a certain location but once I found it by my thumb it made me feel like it should have always been there. Quick and easy.

That's my two cents anyhow, I think that getting the K1 will be a matter of when and not if. The price will go down but I'm not sure how quickly. The Canadian dollar keeps sinking and camera bodies and especially lenses are going up. I plan on getting the 77mm limited here soon cause it's always better to invest in lenses and when able to I'll purchase the K1.
