Great scenery all along your coastline. I am impressed at how often you are able to go out and about shooting there. I thought it was perpetually raining and dreary in that part of the world :)

Ouch. It amazes me how in-attentive people can be sometimes. I blame smart-phones. But you came out of that well.

Took the D610 to something other than night-time rodeo. This bunch all with the Sigma 24-105 f4:

(In processing the night-time photos in this set, I learnt to love the Clarity slider in Lightroom :) )

Try the Cactus laser trigger. It's pretty cheap.

I don't see why you need fancy gear. Even using full-frame is massive over-kill for these play shots.

The solution to every minor photo problem is not the purchase of more expensive gear.

Indeed. AF-C action shooting is challenging for the hardware (AF, buffer, shutter) and the photog - technically and artistically.

Big bulky FF cameras? Not so much when mirrorless:
  • FujiFilm X-T1 is 2% (2.1 mm) wider and 5% (4.6 mm) shorter than Sony A7.

  • FujiFilm X-T1 is 3% (1.5 mm) thinner than Sony A7.

  • FujiFilm X-T1 [440 g] weights 7% (34 grams) less than Sony A7 [474 g] (*inc. batteries and memory card).

Not necessarily. The move to more megapixels (eg 36MP) heightens the risk of blur, even in FF.

Nikon made a big deal of the whole issue when the D800 was released, and even felt the need to release a 'technical guide' document for the D800/E to steer people (particularly 12MP D700 upgraders) around the hazards of shooting at such high MP:

'At the high resolutions offered by the D800/D800E, even the slightest camera motion can result in blur...', with all sorts of [sometimes rather obvious] tips about minimising blur.
