I had one of those on a camera once (Ricoh XR2s). It was indeed handy sometimes, but then after a rought trip in a camera bag, the viewfinder shutter mechanism got stuck open and would no longer work. Fixing it would involve removing the whole top plate of the camera. Luckily, it wasn't stuck shut, so I could ignore it. Now I appreciate the low-tech solution of a simple viewfinder cap. Less to go wrong.
(1) Light leaks when using the viewfinder cap seem non-existant during MLU, long exposures etc with recent Pentaxes. I've never heard any reports of any issues.
(2) The hot shoe cover does make a contribution to camera WR. It adds another seal, essentially, over the hot shoe terminals. In a Pentax manual somewhere, I recall seeing a recommendation to leave it on to help WR.

Could you ask them if the Pentax AF-160FC ring flash is discontinued. It no longer appears in the latest Pentax catalogue (on the Japanese Ricoh imaging site), nor on some other Pentax regional sites.
Plus since this is a weddings event, what are their plans for 'pro' flash generally - eg are any Pentax radio PTTL triggers planned (and matching Pentax radio wireless flashes, equivalent to the Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT, which supports radio ETTL, and the new Nikon Speedlight SB-5000, which does radio ITTL) ?
And yes, ask about face detection in PDAF pls.
