Perhaps. But if you look at, for example this Sigma lens video, or the Nikon one, below, there's a lot of manual work going on there too. Seems like lens making is hard to automate. You Tube |

A nice online brochure for the Limiteds. I look forward to the English translation.
(For better performance, they should also place the video on YouTube, not run it off their own server).
I love seeing factory videos. Pentax should do more of them. Sigma, Nikon, Canon and Fuji have a whole heap on YouTube. One can see a commonality in all of them with the Pentax lens factory processes. Still a lot of by-hand craftsmanship in lens production everywhere.
