I rather like it, but the shadow feels a bit wrong given the position of the sun.

When panoramas go wrong:

This should have been five shots with a 28mm but I was stuck with 420mm and let myself get a bit flustered. :o

Nice, but what do you do with it? ;)

I decided to print one of mine to hang on the living room wall. When I played around with it I decided it needed to be around 400mm tall to look any good, it finished up just over 2 metres wide.

At 400mm tall yours finish up 4.9 and 10.65 metres

Although I remember one of those "we built a house" programs where they built a circular room and had a ring of photos 6 or 7 inches tall. That might work.

So although I enjoy taking/making panos, the reality is that they will rarely be seen on anything than a 24 inch monitor or a 65 inch TV which really won't do them justice.

Certainly, so (technically) so does this:

Interesting in it's own way.

Nothing pseudo about it, panorama refers to the shape (no hard/fast rule but generally means it has a horizontal aspect ratio of 2:1 or larger) not how you got there. Stitching is one way, cropping is another.

Many shots posted here are not actually panoramas, merely stitched images, but welcome none the less.

After this weeks bushfire in Tathra (southern NSW coast), which destroyed 65 houses and 35 caravans or cabins, and also damaged 48 houses, I thought I'd post this one of Kianinny (just outside town) taken in 2015. I believe the area behind where I stood burnt. (I have family in Tathra but they only suffered inconvenience and worry).

Just for completeness, one looking forward K3, DA 18-250 @ 18. 2:1 crop.

Port Phillip Bay on the right, Bass Straight on the left. Point Lonsdale lighthouse in the distance with the rough water of "The Rip" just in front of the lighthouse.

The stairs from which I took the previous shots barely visible in the middle just above and to the left of the straightish section of road.

Thanks guys.

Lets say the site has great potential but I need to try again.

I blew out the clouds and should probably add a frame either side. Maybe I need a graduated ND filter.

Funnily the original stitch was not a panorama but was almost exactly 3:2 which is the standard 35mm aspect ratio. Cropping it loses the nice clouds in the upper right.

This image shows the original stitch with a touch of HDR via photoshop/Nik collection.

It's all Rod's fault, took a quick trip to Point Nepean.

Only a single camera this time, K3 DA 18-250, 7 shots stitched and cropped.

I've now put a thread in the DIY section: Multi Camera Pano Head

Test shot showing joins. Parallax is still an issue up close, there are duplicate bullrushes? either side of the joins. (crosspost)

The plan continues to advance (slowly):

First test with 2 cameras (please excuse the poor exposure and the dust bunny, the weather isn't the greatest). Merged in Photoshop.

As you will notice, there is a glitch in the cliff line. But it would have to be printed over 500mm (20") high before this was noticeable. I think it might be caused by a difference in focal length between the DA and DAL lenses at the 18mm end stop.

At least the waves join up.

Another K-x and DAL 18-55 should be arriving about Christmas day. Hope I don't need another DAL.

And I need to velcro an IR remote to the 'head' so I stop forgetting to bring one. (Doh!)

Unfortunately no, my plan is on a much lower budget. Need 1 more really cheap K-x with DAL (or DA) 18-55.

For some reason the maths doesn't work and overlaps are less than shown.

But the plan does advance:

Hey Des, you sound like a tourism brochure ;)

But why just plug Tassie? There's a lot of good places in Sth. Gippsland too.
