I really like the sense of solitude that shot has...I can feel the cool/cold and get the feeling of a slight cold breeze from the ripples on the water's surface....it reminds me of the start of a long day on the lake as a kid and through my 20s & early 30s...nicely done!

Henry,

great as always...I really love the c1950s-60s era postcard look, especially the last two shots but they all have that look of the era and I bet even postcard collectors would have a hard time telling them from the real thing. Nicely done...

thanks for that link. I never knew about that 43ltd thread but ran across this post:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/31678-about-fa...tml#post376575

I wonder how many great shots we would have missed out on seeing here had that decision gone the other way and no 43ltd for JS???? Kinda made me grin a bit.

Henry,

Funny you mention having had the AIV version of the 31ltd but deciding to sell and find an MIJ version. I am kicking myself like crazy because when I bought my Pentax gear last June (I think it was June 2009, maybe July) but anyway, I had a decision of the 31ltd or the 50-135. I already had the 43ltd, the 77ltd plus a 35ltd...I decided since I was wanting a nice zoom plus the nice feature of the weather sealing, I chose the 50-135, the sad thing was the silver 31ltd and the 50-135 were about the same price...well my 50-135 did not last 30-days and well, one thing led to another and I spent the funds on something else around the house rather than snap up a 31ltd silver to match the other two FA's...I did not see the thing creeping over the $1200 mark at many places from the $700ish it was last year new from ProDigital2000. I had not shot primes in about 30years so I just forgot how cool these lenses were and was spoiled with the fast focusing zooms from Canon.

I hope you get your 31ltd one day...but will say do it sooner rather than later because even the used market is increasing daily for the MIJ FA Ltd's, especially the silver.

BTW, as far as I can tell, the silvers were only MIJ? Yes? Or were some of the silver Ltd's AIV but parts MIJ?

But you certainly have a wonderful eye and I bet you will put out some amazing shots with it once you get a nice copy.

Ya know what Henry....I am being to think there is something going on here more than you taking all these great photos of my girlfriend!!!  Who knew there was such a great subject to shoot in Ohio? hehehehe...really man all these shots are really nicely done.

I really like these last two. As always you really take nice shots. Of course it's just the lenses and subject making you look good. :D

really like the 2nd shot in your last post. Looks like the "grain" is a bit uniform though...did you add it in using LR3's new "film grain" simulation tool? If not still a neat treatment!! Love your shots since I can't get out and shoot anymore, well only for a while I hope...but you stuff is always nice to see.

DLover....it's pcarfan's FAULT I too had to have that )*(^&%??!!! 43ltd as well...so now I simply blame him or that Damn Brit for most of my LBA issues....it's just easier that way...so don't feel alone!! hehehehe....btw, I just decided if I am still around for it, I am gonna use my 43ltd in this activity:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games-photo-stories/10869...n-therapy.html

I find I have been stuck using just my 35ltd for almost everything so that will give me good reason to dust off the 43ltd...I mean it's such an "awful" lense I just have left it on the shelf since, I dunno, April or so...I blame it on my poor toilet training that I can't deal with more than one good lenses at a time.

Henry,

Just love the way you used DOF to get the isolation and your PP (or maybe it was just great use of exposure settings in camera) but the whole shot, ok BOTH shots are beautiful...of course having such an adorable subject helps too!! ;)

Oh, you were at good old "Jellystone"....that might well be one of my favorite places on the planet. I have only been able to visit a handful of times since the mid-70s and never have found a place I enjoyed more. For that place I might never sleep if I ever get to visit again...heck, I might even be willing to sleep in a tent again for the chance to spend a couple weeks there. I have some fun stories over my handful of visits....best was coming nose to nose with a moose about 800' tall and antlers about 47' across...hehehehe...but never did I feel scared or anything, just in awe...

Knowing this was Yellowstone makes the images even more special to me!! Thanks for sharing that info!

oh, yeah, those shots suck so good I think I am put off photography for the remaining days of my life. :p You know those are all wonderful shots!! Thanks for sharing...I am not of the mindset to get up early enough to wander out and shoot ducks/geese at o-dark-hundred or even stay out that close to sunset since that seems to be closer to bed time every day anymore...on either end of the scale. ;)

I wonder if my Ltd's think I have forgotten they exist...hmmmm...better get them off the shelf for at least a bit of fondling before too long.

cool, if Adam starts charging a buck-a-post that will almost cover the cost of a new 31ltd....snickersnickersnicker...call it a "fund raiser"...of course I wanna win the 31ltd...hehehehe.

Love this thread, it's one I make time for as often as I can drop by anymore.

I know this is not an exciting shot, but it's a wonderful shot of a nice mid 19th C. bit of glassware:

Never have used other than CPL's and ND filters. For storage or even while on the body I bought some 49mm (and some 52mm for the 52mm filters I often use on my FA limiteds via step up/down ring) center pinch lens caps. Never carry the original FA ltd caps because, well, they are kinda problematic as they will fall off is looked at with a scowl, maybe even with a smile. And for a few bucks I have lens caps that work fine when in the bag...btw, I have always felt most scratching or front element damages comes from cleaning but carrying around on covered lenses in the bag can't be too far behind. Cheap center pinch caps pretty much eliminate the lament that it's too much trouble to take the cap on and off when out shooting. Otherwise the hoods should cover all but the most unique circumstances.

My first product shot with the 43ltd. White balance is odd but I still was happy with the results. The image on the Kindle is a shot I tool with my old 35ltd then converted to a "screen saver" image on the Kindle. It looks surprisingly good considering the K1 has only a 4-greyscale display...

Here is a larger shot if you want to see the detail

Beautiful shot but it sure doesn't look black & white to my eye...more like a desaturated shot...the facial skin tone & eyes look very close to natural, nice job!

Took this on a walk a couple weeks ago. I thought it ended up sort of different. It;s a sliding gate with the camera against the chain link fence looking down the slide/roller. I kinda like the OOF of the foreground contrasted with the bokeh in the background.

K20D, 77ltd, 1/320th, f5.6, ISO100
