Since the "this is about the 7500th wedding I've shot" is false by your own admission, I don't think you should ask anyone for credentials.

First warning sign, is when someone insists that he's an expert.
Second warning sign, is when he's implying that others (those who disagree with him) must be ignorant.
Do we need a third? ;)

IMO truly experienced people would be able to make a solid point without shoving their experience in everyone's face.

I can easily give examples of people showcasing their "experience", but making some ridiculous claims. And it's not necessarily that they lied about them being experienced... but:
- the experience might not be in a field relevant to the exact claim being made. For example, a photographer (because we're on a photography forum) might make a claim related to electric engineering (technical aspect of a camera/lens).
- you know the saying, "practice makes perfect" - well, that's wrong. Only good practice makes perfect; bad practice makes bad. Having "experience" doesn't automatically makes you an expert.
- even an expert can have a bad day, miss something, exaggerate completely losing any sense of perspective or otherwise make a false claim.
- it might be just a way of saying "I can't/won't support my claims, don't you dare to contradict me".

After all, we're talking about an argument from authority.

Complaining that a product doesn't do what it wasn't designed to do, while ignoring it's purpose. You're asking that front LED to illuminate the distance scales of all lenses - even though it varies wildly and to help you find lenses in your bag (you must have a huge bag, to lose things inside it).
All of these are nonsense.

As for the primary purpose, the one it's performing admirably well and you're (purposely?) ignoring: obviously, that front led was designed to illuminate the lens' mount, as you're trying to put it on the camera. Nothing more. It's well positioned for that, easy to use, doesn't require an extra hand. I can find a lens in my bag without looking - touch is still considered a sense; I can identify it's front and back and take off the back cap; but don't ask me to find a little red dot in low light.
Interestingly, for this usage scenario you said you have a headlamp (but not for the distance scale?). I smell a bit of dishonesty here; you're working way too hard to make up reasons for complaining.
Are you really a Pentaxian?

Yeah. Right. Next you'll complain about the camera being optimized for taking pictures, instead of some other innovative usage.
Stop this silliness; the purpose of the front light is to help you align and mount the lens on the camera. It does that admirably well.

I'm not surprised you don't like the front side light (you don't like anything Pentax, or so it seems), and I'm not surprised you're absolutely wrong about its usefulness.
It's not there to use the camera as a flashlight. Its role is to allow you to align and mount the lens on the camera, which can be as difficult as finding a red dot. Especially with KAF4 lenses, which lacks the mechanical aperture coupling so you can't use that as a guide.
Thus, it works regardless of the lens' thickness, and it works amazingly well.
