Since it's the same controller, integrated into the PRIME processor... I'd say no.
Except that in some cases the cleaner images would compress better - making for somewhat smaller files.

Right. Especially a noisy image is hard to compress.
But, there is a gain - my RAW files are often less than 45MB, though they can get closer to 60MB. OTOH, an uncompressed (and not bit-packed) RAW would be over 72MB.
With the K-1's slow writes, I'd say it's significant.

I guess they don't expect it would be hugely popular; it's an expensive upgrade for not that many improvements after all. I hope they'll extend the time period if necessary.
OTOH I understand the need of putting a deadline.

The logical thing is not to upgrade, for me. The K-1 is already overkill (in image quality, which is the main improvement). I'm much better served by buying one of the new lenses.
So I'll guess I'll either upgrade, or sell it if I can get a good price and get the II.
