I can't say I personally used the lens with a film camera, though it is of the right vintage and should work quite well. It appears the Sigma, like so many Pentax M/A lenses, transcended their usefulness from film to digital.

Here is a Dyxum review. A couple people did review the lens with film, so check it out. Be aware there are some references to the auto-focus version which is optically the same as the manual focus version.

Item Description
$125 - For sale is one Sigma 24mm 2.8 Super Wide II Macro manual focus lens in K-mount. My Tamron 17-50mm gives comparable quality images at the same focal length, so this lens has become redundant and I've decided to find it a new home.

Cosmetically, the lens is in good condition. You can see from the one image there is some slight paint loss on the DOF scale, but otherwise the lens barrel is in good shape with a few light rub marks. Optically, the lens is excellent; no marks or scratches on the elements whatsoever, and the interior is free of fungus and haze. There are one or two specks of dust inside, but it's nothing that will affect image quality.

The lens has its original hood, the Sigma "Perfect Hood", original lens cap, and a Pentax-brand bayonet rear lens cap. The front cap has taken some wear-and-tear, but is otherwise perfectly usable.

When I first purchased this lens I was aware that a lot of people are not thrilled with the "Perfect Hood" since it snaps into place and can not be stored with the hood installed. The original cap also can not be used while the hood is in place. To remedy this I acquired a simple metal screw-in hood that effectively shades the lens and can be stored in-place on the lens. The hood comes with a "dust cap" which hugs the outer rim of the metal hood and stays in place quite nicely. The new hood and dust cap will also come with the lens. (Note that the original hood and cap are not pictured)

Incidentally, I also have a 52mm Marumi ND8 (3-stop) neutral density filter meant to go with this lens, but never used it. The filter is in Mint condition and the brand is excellent. If the buyer would like the filter as well they can take it for $30.

Shipping is free (FedEx) and I don't charge extra for PayPal fees. Because of this I must stay firm on the asking price (which I might add is in line with the typical pricing found in the review for this lens on PF). Continental US buyers only, please!
