Old film lenses and white balance

Lightroom doesn't know how to deal with M-AWB if you are shooting in RAW. I'm not sure how it arrives at a chosen white balance, but it is almost always wrong. Try using regular AWB.

Lenses certainly do alter the color of light differently. That being said, the in camera AWB is pretty good and since it uses the light passed through the lens, there shouldn't be that big of a difference between them. What is your white balance set to?

It sounds more like you are shooting somewhere that has 2 colored light sources. One of those is darker than the other and appears in the shadows, such as using a flash indoors in tungsten light. If this is the case, then there isn't really any way to properly white balance the scene. You have to choose to balance one source or the other.
