The EXIF shows real ISO, not some calculated equivalency of ISO with reference to some other format.

Why do you write ISO equivalent? Equivalent to what?

I dont have a A400/5,6 and I dont have a K-1, but I just got the AF adapter today and tried it on various lenses to test it with my K-5. It does focus with some of the f/5,6 lenses I tried, and not with others. f/5,6 is really on the edge of what it will focus with. Even the difference between f/2,8 and f/4 is noticeable.

Oh, I hate when I miss good opportunities. Its a clear but quite colorless tonight. I just had a quick glimpse out the window and discovered the moon was 1 degree over the horizon, rolling on top of some distant mountain peaks. Red-pink-purple-ish color. I grabbed the camera with the 18-35mm that was on it and took a shot before I discovered a faint pointlight to the right of the moon. An airplane coming from behind the horizon, moving closer to the moon and getting brighter. I ran downstairs to pick up a tele lens (300mm+ according to the thread) and just when I got it on the camera, the airplane had crossed the moon and the planes apparent size could have fit perfectly in front of the moon. And the cloud that made the moon look like Saturn had moved away. Anyway, i got a few pictures without the plane.

Thanks! In my opinion it looks useful to a crop factor of 1,2x.

Can you show a test image of K-1 + TC + DA*300 and one without the TC so I can see how much vignetting the TC causes? And if its not to much trouble, one pair of images at close focus and one pair at infinity focus.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I read that the in between ISOs gives more noise and less DR then the full steps. I'm not sure if that is a brand specific problem or limited to certain ISO ranges. Thats why I formulated it as a question.
Edit: There is a diagram of Nikon D5 dynamic range vs ISO here, where parts of the diagram is saw tooth jagged. Whole stop ISO numbers give better results in then in between stops. I can find the same behaviour with other cameras so maybe the problem is overrated.

Isn’t there a "rule" you should avoid 1/2 and 1/3 ISO stops? I would have chose 800 or 1600 in stead of 1000.

Happy anniversary!
1. Yes, better AF and less noise at the same ISO. In theory slightly more then one stop improvement. How this turns out in practice remains to bee seen. For really long exposures (minutes) you might get less thermal noise too, because the K-1 sensor has several years newer technology.
2. The crop frame in K-1 will produce the same quality shots as using a real crop camera. The extra pixels and image outside the APS-C crop is only added quality. I don’t know how the edge performance of that lens is, but it could mean everything from just slightly better quality to significantly better.
3. No. The noise benefit is a direct result of the larger sensor area. Utilizing just an APS-C part of the sensor will yield APS-C like performance-

Why hardware crop, when you can software crop? - The latter gives you the freedom to choose no crop also. The former don't.

Me too. I promise to show some :)
I unpacked the 300/5,6 earlier today and it felt quite good and the first test shots was promising.
A few minutes ago I unpacked the 300/2,8 and its impressive just by the looks. And I have been extremely lucky with its condition. Its better then mint. It looks like it was made today and, and don't have a speck of dust even inside or outside. Not even in the box. Not a fingerprint anywhere. And it came with an probably expensive 112mm UV filter and a slot in UV filter. How can anyone have had it for at least 24 years and not even left a fingerprint? The bag don’t show any signs of use. Its time to give it a life and start living! :D

Yey! I'm just about to become a member, with a Tamron AD2 300mm f/2,8 and a AD2 300mm f/5,6 on the way. Possibly arriving later today. My first real use of the bigger one will be in a couple of weeks when the birds comes north again at a fantastic site I know about. :)
