My region is Northern Norway, a region with close to 100% pure hydroelectric power. My last car was a diesel car that used 0,7 liters per 10 km.

It also depends on how much I will drive. Next summer I will drive the Tesla on my vacation in stead of flying (about 2000 km each way), since its so much more fun to drive compared to the old diesel car, more conveniant when I arrive, and I can have much more lugguage and enjoy the landscape much better then flying. Also I cant stand the discomfort at airports and crammed airplanes. My car had 120 000 km when I bought it in july, and now its 130 000 km. I guess I will drive ca 20 000 km each year, compared to ca 14 000 km a year with the diesel car. And ca 4 000 km less flying.

Did you get the numbers from here? Yes, those are US number, but I live in Norway, not USA. Norway have way cleaner power production then even Alaska. 95% is clean water power. 2% from a coal power plant at a remote Island, Svalbard, that has a separate electric grid. The last 3% is from two controversial gas power plants. Controversial because they are heavily subsidised for implementing a fiasco CO2 extraction plant. I live in the north, more then 1500 km away from those gas plants so the electric energy I use in my Tesla is practically CO2 free. Anyway, Alaska and the North west in USA doesnt come close to norways low CO2 emissions from electric power production. And I must repeat, even EVs running on pure coal power is cleaner on CO2 then most gasoline cars.

You Tube

Regarding raw materials, the most controversial of them are cobolt from DRC. Tesla does not source its cobolt from there. In comparison, Apple iPhones use 6 times as much cobolt per Wh of battery, and they do source their cobolt from DRC.

Yes, the driving is highly subjective, I never felt as home and comfortable in any car before. I prefer music over noise, and clean air over exhaust, but its highly subjective of course.

At last I need an alibi for posting in this thread, I just got a Pentax 3-8mm f/1,0 CS-mount for my Q. It cost me just 5$ + 5$ shipping. The build quality feels like the price.

Higher CO2 emissions at production - lower in use. With US electric power its break even after 18 000 miles compared to average US gasoline cars. Even in Poland (worst coal power country in Europe) its net CO2 negative to drive electric compared to average polish gasoline cars. I live in Norway and use 98% hydroelectric power.

However its not that simple. Environment is about more then just CO2. The worst points about electric cars are about mining cobolt, lithium and nickel. All with severe impact on local environment and the use of child labor (Cobolt). However Tesla does better then the competition to avoid the worst companies. They also does better then the competition to minimize CO2 emissions from battery production by using renewable energy.

Having said the worst things about electric cars, its time to bring forward the worst from ICE cars. Gasoline has to be produced and that doesnt happen without CO2 emissions or environmental impact. Far from. Actually you can multiply the CO2 emissions by 3 to get the real numbers including extraction, refining and transportation. Then there is the poor energy efficiency in ICE, NOx emissions, particles (diesel gate), and shorter life span due to failing mechanical parts, lots of them ratteling around in that frunk without storage space.

Its also time saving to be able to fill the battery over night at home. I laugh every time I see a gas station price sign and all the cars that stops there. They even stand out in the cold manually holding their "charging cables" for 3-4 minutes in the freezing wind. When I drive more then 3 hours I usually just plug in and go to the toilet and then buy some food. After that I go to plug out and drive. I'm so happy my time with ICE is over. I will never again step in someones gasoline spill and take those smelly shoes into the car, stinking for hours. Not to mention the fresh air in the garage after warming up the car there.

And I havent even started on how it feels to drive.. :D :D :D Its almost undescribable. My advice: try! (Even if the X90DL is a little faster, my P85 isnt a turtle)

Why?

Let me guess? You havent tried one. It is as beautiful to drive as it looks. No hassle, no gas stations or expensive gas. It doesnt stink and no noise - just beautiful crystal clear music - loud.

I have not reported it here yet, but a few months ago I bought a K-1 and a new camera transportation utility, a Tesla model S P85. During the winter I will take and show you photos of it under the northern lights.

I agree. Last year I found an ad for a 5 year old Pentax K-x, that had done about 50 exposures. Probably all the same day as the box was opened. Just sad.

American beer? I'm sure you could mistake the taste for being a Heinz product. I don't consider any of the varieties I have tasted for being beer.

At the two old airports, Tegel and Schönefeld. The new one are named Brandenburg Airport. I live 2000 km away from it, but I have still read and heard much about it. It must be a huge embarrasment. The last I heard from it was that the roof couldn't hold the weight of the ventilation system and that the engineer responsible for that wasn't really an engineer. He cheated with papers to get the job. There are also a lot more, and cost incredibly much to fix at this stage as they have to tare down a lot and build up again

Anyway, as for last aquistions, I got a Tamron Adaptall 500mm f/8 mirror lens. The first version. And no cost overruns this time since the seller didn't want to get paid. I want to pay, but he wont give me any payment options. I'll ask again soon (seventh time). I think he got some serious health problems as he said he wouldn't be able to use this lens or any camera again. I don't think its his eyes as he spent two weeks to get an opportunity to get out of the hospital and send the lens. Poor him. I send him some pictures taken with the lens and stories around that he liked a lot. I feel I cant nag to much about payment ether. I just want to be fair.

I just bought a Pentax-F 1,7x AF adapter and received it today. Finally I can AF with my big tele. A Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 300mm f/2,8. AF even works quite fine with the 1,4x Adaptall-2 TC stacked. With the 2x TC stacked It struggles, but finds focus after a few tries. With both its no surprise it doesn't focus.

I also tried to use the AF adapter with a few other lenses:
Tokina 70-210 f/4-5,6: Focuses at 70mm, but not at 210mm
Takumar 80-200 f/4,5: Focuses, but a little unreliable
Tamron Adapall 300mm f/5,6: Focuses fine
Pentax DA 50mm f/1,8: Focuses fine

So did Iraqi troops do with sensitive data during the gulf war. But they filled the discs with epoxy through the holes too. Still over 50% of the files was recovered by hard drive recovery specialists.

Software overwriting are actually safer, easier and faster. Thats why Microsoft and others don't recommend your method.

From the A* marking and the length I figured out it had to be the SMC Pentax-A* 600mm F5.6 EF IF

Congratulations!

Look on the bright side, next birthday or at Christmas, you know its your turn.

Anyway, I have been purchasing cheap 43mm CPL filters from ebay lately, and by the third try I got one that actually was a CPL filter. I got refund for the other two.
The first defective was sold as Hoya branded and costed about 14 $.
The second defective was sold as Citywide branded and costed about 5 $.
The working filter was this Pro1-D branded filter, also around 5 $.

Any idea on what to do with defective filters except throwing them?

I also purchased a dirt cheap metal lens hood for my DA 50 mm f/1,8 that fits fine except the lens cap wont fit anymore. I have yet to test it in the sun (its been pouring down the last days).

I just bought a Durst M605 BW enlarger for 500 NOK (60$) and was surprised by getting lots of other equipment on the deal. Lenses, cutting boards, a 10 kg box of photo paper, trays, timers and everything else one would need in a dark room. :) Now I just need a dark room.. :p

(a plate to mount tight over the window and a dark room light bulb)

First and foremost I expect to profit from the Nikon sales. I also never tried a Nikon camera for more then a few minutes and this is a great opportunity. I will probably keep one of the bags too. The seller stated that he would not split the package. The profit from the sale will be reinvested in Pentax gear somehow. Or be reinvested in something else that I can sell with profit and so on. Just like my DA18-55 "grew" to become a Tamron 300mm f/2,8. Its a long way up to K-1 but thats my long term goal.

The EOS 300 and 28-80 lens will be sold. I just wanted the 8 films that was sold in that package, to use with my MZ-5N :) and a couple of other cameras. Usually I would only get 2 films for that price. I got 8 and a camera. Great bargain! :)

I went crazy today, buying two cameras, five lenses and two bags on impulse. Where is the photo gear asylum? The prices was good though. :p

Pentax K-r
DA 18-55mm ALII
Sigma 10-20mm f/4,5-5,6
Sigma 50-150 f/2,8 DC HSM II
Total price 447 USD

Nikon D3100
Nikon 18-55mm VR
Nikon 55-300mm VR
Two bags in good condition
Total price: 248 USD

I will try it for a few days and then sell all except the two Sigma lenses and maybe keep one bag.

I must mention that I recently also bought a Canon EOS 300 with a 28-80mm lens and 8 film rolls for 13 USD, and a K-5 with a DA18-135mm and a bag for 248 USD. The latter had only taken 1K exposures and replaced my K-5 that had taken 17K exposures. I managed to get more for my old K-5 with a 18-55mm WR then I paid for the new one including a DA18-135. Then I traded the DA18-135 and 310 USD for a Tamron Adaptall-2 300mm f/2,8 with 1,4x and 2,0x TC and a case in excellent condition. In sum I lost a DA18-55 and gained a 300mm f/2,8. Cant complain about that! :D

I'll see what I can make out of what I bought today. Maybe the profit goes into the K-1 savings account.
