I've hesitated for many weeks to introduce myself because my background is so confusing. However, since others are using this instead of the "Welcomes and Introductions" forum to introduce themselves, here is the short version. Born in North Carolina (never really lived there), teenage years in California, and spent well over half my adult life overseas (Turkey, Italy, England, and Germany). Currently reside in Veinheim Germany (north of Heidelberg, west of Mannheim), in a house on a hill overlooking the Rhein River valley.
Haved worked as a sales rep for several consumer electronics firms and a computer manufacturer, had a short involvement with the Coast Guard (Lt. Cmd, branch chief, national staff), a few odd jobs on and off with the US government, and was a founding member of the Dept of Homeland Security.
When it comes to photography, I've worked as a marketing rep (Agfa, Hama, Canon, & Pentax), a staff photographer for a German modeling agency (Moderna), and now have investments in three photo studios (New York, London, Mannheim). The top and bottom floors of my house have been converted into studio facilities (the middle floor is our residence). However, we're working on opening a photo gallery in downtown Heidelberg (tentatively on the main street, hauptstraße) later this summer, with the studio facilities now in my house eventually moved upstairs over that gallery. Most of my money from photography today comes from calendars, or photos for calendars, sold in retail stores throughout Europe.
Over the years, I've owned countless cameras, ranging from 35mm to medium format. My first Pentax was an SP-500 purchased in the 70's. My current inventory includes the K10D, two Minolta Maxxum 7 bodies (film), and a Mamiya 645 (MF film). That K10D will soon be joined by a second body, with the Minoltas soon to retire from active use entirely.
I don't routinely participate in discussion forums (don't have time), with this forum one of the very rare exceptions. The "stewart" below is both my real name (upper case "S") and trade name (lower case "s").
