local store will no longer accept Pentax gear on trade. They have also stated that they after the current stock of Pentax sell out they will be putting it all on special order and only carrying the minimum for dealer agreement. Sad sad day.

At least they still plan to keep the 645 line in stock.. one day I'll get one. One day...

Very true!

My boss was asking me what camera he should buy and was mentioning he was looking at the D850 and 5DMKiv. He has never held a DSLR before in his life. I mentioned Pentax and Fuji and showed him a couple of models online. He mentioned they didn't look like serious cameras so he wasn't interested in them. He thinks the Fuji looks like a toy, and Pentax is something a grandpa would use. I tuned him out and walked away.

I'm shooting my first major fashion show this week, Western Canadian Fashion Week. Edmonton and Western Canada's biggest fashion event of the season. I was quite surprised to see the breakdown as such...

3 Pentax K3
1 Pentax K5
1 Olympus OMD Em1 (well not surprised, the user of this camera is a local fashion icon)
5 Nikons of various models
10+ Canons of various models
handful of mirrorless

Quite surprising about the Pentax turnout myself.

I was dual weilding my K3 and D800 personally, and found myself on day 2 (were on day four today, I missed 3) shooting primarily with my Pentax. Mostly for weight savings

was shooting a wedding this past weekend and noticed this:

the wedding photographer by LK_335, on Flickr

okay, shes my niece and thats my second K5 body and my DA*16-50, but you need to start them young! I spent some time and taught her how to use Av and M modes this weekend, so I think I'll buy her a used K200D if one shows up and give her some lenses I have doubles of. She really likes shooting and has some natural talent.

I did see 3 other Pentaxians though. K100D with kit lens, KX with FA77 and a K5 with a FA31. The guy with the K5 thought I was nuts for waving at him and yelling "go Pentax"....

I've ran into some idiots. But at the end of the day the guys who are more into photography are more accepting.

Its usually the entry level users that are tool bags... however this last seminar I took the speaker was all Canon Canon Canon.

This weekend I went and shot a local band. Three other people were shooting there too.

Cameras were:
Nikon D7000
Canon 40D
Pentax Q :what:

Never seen another Q user out there. We chatted and shared our Q love for a bit. He also states her has a K5. But didn't bring it with

Group Photography where everyone is wandering the same site trying to get their own shots I enjoy. I did that at a local railway museum and came away with some good shots. But trying to duplicate others photos is not my bag. :)

Surprisingly at the end of April I was at a comic convention in Calgary Alberta and ran into numerous pentaxians.

Three k5s two with fa 77 mounted. Ten KR with one in red and another in white. Two Q's. And even a LX

When I first was looking at getting a DSLR I was searching for a nikon, but I didn't like the feel. I thought if I was spending $800+ on a camera I would be buying something that didn't feel like a fisherprice toy.

My mom then said I should learn on her old film slr and see if I stuck with it. She gave me her old Pentax MX with the M 50 1.4, and a few other lenses. I was hooked. When I found out the K100D would take the old glass it was a no brainer.

I'm now 5+ years into the hobby and still using pentax. I've run into quite a few Pentaxians at various events. And its always been a blast sharing our Canikon tweaker experiences.

I even saw 5 of us on one train car in Summerland, BC Canada this past summer. 8 at the Edmonton Folk Fest, along with others throughout the years.

While rare, I love it. I just love to exchange that smile with other shooters.

Even the person who did our wedding photos had a K20D with 40mm DA limited on his hip to swap between with his Canon
