I've owned a MZ-L for nearly 8 years now, and one minor detail with it always bugged me a little bit. When Pentax came out with these cameras, for some reason they seemed to have switched from the typical eyepiece, to an eyepiece that wouldn't accept standard Pentax eyepiece accessories. While planning a setup for my wheelchair camera mount, I never thought to use my MZ-L because I needed to be able to mount the Pentax Refconverter-A right angle finder.
The other day while perusing ebay, I ran across a black MZ-7, which being quite rare, I decided to look closer at it. I almost immediately noticed that it seemed to have semi-normal Pentax eyepiece. How could that be?
Long story short... today I pulled out my MZ-L, and after playing around a bit, I discovered that the seemingly non-removable eyepiece can actually be removed and standard Pentax eyepiece accessories can be fitted!
