There are actually 4 versions of the DA 55-300.
Three with screw drive - SMC DA L, SMC DA and HD DA WR. All of them have same optical formula.
One with built in motor - HD DA PLM WR RE. New optical formula designed for PLM motor with much faster AF. It also have retractable barrel design for more compact size.

Maybe something like Visoflex that Leica introduced 1951. This was designed for being able to use macro and long tele lenses on range finder camera.

The main problem with an adapter like this is that a moving mirror will require more space than is available in a EF-RF adapter, so either it has to have a fixed mirror, or the adapter would require new lenses designed for a longer register distance than Canon EF.

It is not until now that FF has catched up APS-C in terms of pixel size.
In a declining camera market I think it is smart by Sony to use same sensor/pixel tech on 26MP APS-C, 61MP FF and 100/150MP mediumformat.
