Love this thread, love this lens and the work you guys have been pushing out lately is incredible. I've not been using the lens (or indeed my Pentax kit) much lately, but here's one freshly processed from the archives. It's the Palace de Justice, Monaco. Waiting for Justice by digitalCG, on Flickr

Bless me Sigma for I have sinned - hardly used this lens in ages thanks to a FF distraction. Great to see the thread continuing apace with some superb contributions :)
This is from a promo shoot in Feb. |

Some excellent images posted in here since my last visit, great work guys.
Re-acquainted myself with the Sigma 10-20 on a recent short break to Mallorca by making a few touristy panos...

Palma's iconic cathedral from Parc de la Mer, just after sunset:

Mike, Mark, Falke, Designosophy et al - superb stuff! Not used the 10-20 for a while but great to watch this thread regardless.

All subjective, this game/hobby/art of ours :) I currently like the effect and it's a very effective way to slow my photography down, make me think about what I'm trying to achieve and differentiate the results from those of my shooting buddy, who is annoyingly good whilst being completely non-technical...
There is some complex distortion in the corners at 10mm so it's worth trying to keep things simple out at the edges of the frame.
As for sharpness, above f8 it's hard to get anything out of focus so perhaps some testing is needed. Stick the setup on a tripod and (assuming you have live view available) try using contrast detect focus to see if things are any better. Even better, for the kind of shot I last posted AF goes out of the window. I'll use f9-f11, set the focus ring around the 1m mark and know that everything from 2.5 feet out will be acceptably sharp.
Hope some of this helps :)

Hardly used this lens lately, have been spending time with the DA35 Ltd instead. Anyway, here are two humble offerings...
A recently rediscovered vertical pano from 2008:

A recent one to highlight the versatility of this lens - sat just inside the course ropes with the Soapbox racers rattling very close by, a little trailing sync flash allowed me to grab results like this: |

Still loving this thread - the HDR discussion is particularly relevant to these really wide shots, but most of the time with K-5 low iso images you can get sufficient details using the fill light slider - very handy for the tripod-averse :)

Two more, this lens just refuses to leave - though I've pretty much decided I'll probably keep the 12-24 and replace this lens with the 8-16 at some point...
Slow day in Liverpool:
Planet Caernarfon, this is 18 hand held jpegs stitched in Microsoft ICE and wrapped:
Still enjoying this thread, keep up the good work everyone!

Three more from this lens - lately I've been trying to work out whether to keep this or the 12-24.

Couple from a recent Spanish trip, travelled light with K-x, 18-250 and 10-20. Both have been straightened and cropped a little.
This shows a bit of flare, granted, but the lighting would have made any SMC lens sweat :D |

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the kind comments. I don't have those files to hand right now but I'd say they were likely f8-10 and at the very wide end, as that is where mine seems to perform best. If I remember rightly I shot the images landscape with plenty of overlap (no panorama device) to help stitch such a wide-angle panorama together smoothly.
This is the same village in portrait orientation about a year earlier:
and a few more with the 10-20 to keep the thread moving... |

Just to explain the process: 7 long exposures in manual mode with the K10, tweaking shutter speed and ISO as the light fell. Single RAW files pushed and pulled around a bit (so not full HDR), stitched in Microsoft ICE if I remember rightly, little bit more enhancement and cleanup afterwards.
Not my usual approach (far too pp-intensive for a lazybones like me!) but it's nice to step out of the comfort zone and try something new from time to time. Glad people like it anyway!
