I'm a multimedia manager for a large multi-national database company.
Data is our business, it's in my "blood".
Besides, I have learned too many things concerning data - the hard way.

On it's way!
The zip file number is the serial number of my lens.
I'm not sure if that number is somewhere in the data somewhere, so I saved it for each DA*16-50 I *fixed*.
The original is in there, as well as my updated file that works flawlessly.

I even saved the old ROM in case I needed to.
I did the hack on two DA*16-50mm lenses.
One failed, and the other I'm sure will one day!

It doesn't work with the K3.
I have a few K3 cameras and I had to break out my K5.
Worked like a charm with the K5.
If anyone in the Bay Area of California needs someone to do it for them, drop me a line.

LOL screw drive may be slow, but it's faster than manual focus!

I'm not sure what didn't work for the K3, so I grabbed one of my K5 cameras and it went without a hitch.
I have two DA* 16-50 lenses and their # are 9045389 and 9045481. They are only 92 apart from one another, so they probably came from the same batch.
In the LENSEEP.LNS, 00 through 05 columns are identical, 0E through 0F are too.
06 through OD change, so the LENSEEP.LNS is specific to each lens.

I have a shoot tomorrow morning, and I have 10 minutes to get what I need from a high ranking member of the company.
One K3 on a slider, another on a Jib, and another in my hands for stills.
Failure, is NOT an option
So happy this is done now!!!!

I just finished doing my other DA*16-50 before it goes bad.
I'm glad this *fix* exists, as I use my cameras professionally, and my DA*16-50 is used for those quick-in-close pictures.
The IQ of this lens is worth it.
I found out my lens stopped working as I was getting a shot, and it took a few seconds to go through the checklist of what *I* might be doing wrong for it to not focus.
Seconds where lost, and the only reason I went to manual was because I remembered these threads here.
What a disaster if I was counting on this lens to continue to autofocus!!!
My advice to EVERYONE with this lens is to just go ahead and do this hack.
You won't always be near a computer, or be able to download the file to hack in the field.
The failure is not a case of *if* it will happen, it's a case of *when*.
My lens gave me NO indication if it was getting ready to fail.
Save yourself some pain and DO THIS.

Me too.
I can get into debug on a K3 and other things work, just I'm not able to copy the lens ROM to the SD card.
