Actually, they liked the 654z a lot as a still camera. That had gotten them excited about the video so they arranged a test shoot with a professional video crew - that is what disappointed them.

The Camera Store did an elaborate video testing the video on the 645z. They were disappointed but they had expected professional handling.

A detachable EVF is indeed a pain but an integrated one would be great on a mirrorless camera.

I had two of Sony's well regarded detachable EVFs for the NEX system. I agree with Biro that they are very annoying. The built in EVF of the NEX 6 and others is much easier to use. Almost as good as an OVF on a dslr, better in some ways. But the detachable one was just a bother.
