I agree this should have nothing to do with reviewers about whom PF has become way too sensitive. But the question was not about the weight difference alone but about how much bulkier the D850 is yet slightly lighter.

The question is not a complaint about the 5 grams. The question is about why the Nikon is so much bulkier than the k-1 but weighs slightly less. The suggestion about IBIS etc probably play a part but there must be more. I am amazed at how many posters seem to feel a need to defend the K-1, which is not being criticized. I own two of them and love the camera. It is an item of curiosity about something which is not clear on its face.

Maybe, but I think the D850 has that too. By the way I am in no way interested in the Nikon. I am just curious why it is significantly bulkier but a bit lighter than the K-1. Even the A7RIII has a magnesium body and IBIS too.

Hi Digitalis. I am not starting a rumor but asking a legitimate question. The perceived size difference is great but the weight is very close. I am as far from a Pentax basher as you can get. I own two K-1s and the K-3ii right now and have used Pentax since the mid seventies. My question was about what appeared to me to be a mystery. The IBIS may be the explanation. But looking at the size difference on the comparison site I posted one has to wonder, as I did.

So maybe the correct question should be: is the D850 et al. made large just to appeal to those strange people who always seem to want bigger cameras from Pentax and Sony?
