This is what frustrates some users. Pentax is a small brand but Ricoh is a large company. They could invest more in Pentax but by not doing so it makes many believe there is no future. But is seems to me that the steady, if glacially slow, release of products over the past few years indicates just a very cautious commitment to Pentax but a commitment none the less.

Well, I had one for a brief time. It is, for sure, an excellent lens in every way but size. I was pleased with the images but not enough to keep it over the da* 55. Size and money were the main deciders. I am sure it bodes well for the 85 1.4.

It usually takes weeks or months for good Pentax reviews to appear. That is Not much different from other companies although there are more superficial ones sooner for others.

I do not think so. If I remember correctly many people think that the profile is best when it is a combination of camera and lens. There are inexpensive profiles you can buy such as from Huelight.

June through September here I do most of my photography hiking and the temp is almost never much below 40c. 42-43 very common. Only the little Q has ever complained. The Pentax DSLRs do not seem to notice..

We all seem to want to have a high quality prime to carry around. The DA* 55 has served me well for a long time but maybe this will take its place. Although it cannot compete on size with the DA*.

One of the insidious sides of a new lens like this is that, if it is as good as they say and we all hope, many of us will want it just to be sure we can are getting the best out of our equipment even if we are getting good results from the DA*55 et al. In other words, good ceases to be enough and we need the best. I am often subject to that pull but I do not think it is always wise.
