Chocolate Bokeh. 135mm "f1.7" & K3III. Only drawback of the lens is the MFD, and (make that two) MF with aging eyes! Chocolate Bokeh by Roger Knief |

I always wondered what character a soft focus lens adds to an image. Thanks for posting the images!

Thanks much for the kind words and the ID. I've heard that name around here as well. :) ---------- Post added 09-26-21 at 05:12 PM ---------- I'd forgotten what a fun little lens the FA 35mm F2 can be. This is from the first test shots when I got the lens in 2013. K-5 at F4. Fuscia |

My sister planted a wildflower mix. She does not have the ID for any of them. Any ideas on this one? Black-eyed Susan - Thanks Pepperberry Farm! :)
This is a ten image stack assembled in Zerene. I had to use ISO 800 with exposure compensation -1
to get a 1/45th shutter. Most of my time was spent waiting for the breeze to stop. FA* 200mm macro. Black-eyed Susan |

This is our last Clematis of Autumn. It illustrates the weakness and a couple strengths of the 135 on the K-1.
The first image shows the entire frame. The second is an actual pixel crop.
First, this is minimum focus distance. The flower is 3-4 inches across. Be prepared to crop if you desire detail
on small subjects. That's the main issue I have with the lens. A extension tube might be of assistance. Second,
the depth of field at max aperture is ridiculously thin, as you can see from the crop.
Strengths: First, a smooth bokeh is easy to achieve. A composition where the bokeh is pleasant over the entire
frame can be a challenge. Second, the lens is fairly sharp, even wide open, as you can see in the wing detail of
the hoverfly. This was handheld, with exposure compensation down a stop because of the clematis' bright center. Last Celmatis of Autumn

That lens is a gem that is under appreciated, and very reasonably priced nowadays. Nice job.

My first macro lens. Surprised you had no takers. It was all I could afford at the time. Would be surprised if one
could buy anything else that light for the magnification it gives. For years it was a constant in my bag until I
thought I needed a 1:1 macro. Truth be told, it's rare I shoot 1:1, though I often do 1:2 and greater. Even though
it's only 1:2.8, the little lens could probably do 75% of my macro work. Set up a catch in focus with it, and Otis
just might give you a close up of his whiskers with some real nice bokeh in the backround! :)

At 25, Mama might be on top of you before you could open the car door, get inside, and close the door. It would be close.

Thanks much! :)
It's not often I "see" a good subject, and even rarer that I can "put it all together."
