Yeah, I'm still around, I just haven't posted for quite awhile. These are just a couple shots from my backyard and the flowers are pencil eraser size or smaller. The one isn't in that great of focus but I believe that there is a tiny bug crawling around in there!

Last week I did our first "mow" of the year, but, before I mowed I photod the "tiny flowers". The grape hyacinths, being the exception, are in the flower bed out front.
Here's one with my Pentax M 100 1:4 and another with the same lens plus all 3 of my Asahi K extension tubes which when combined gives me 57mm of extension to give me 1:1 magnification. The first is without the tubes. and the second is with the tubes. The one in between them is a "Gill-over-the-Ground" (Creeping Charlie).
Then there's Pennsylvania Bittercress, chickweed, bittercress, and Henbits. The Yellow flowers grow 6 or more inchs tall, but the flowers still fit the constraints of this thread.:D I don't know what they are though.:(

No, this isn't just a new way to say "horse pucky". I found it @ this address; horse herb - Google Search

OR You can just "google" Horse Herb. These look the same as yours, PhotoLady, so I'm thinkin they might be it.
And Pete--the first thing I thought of when I saw them was how much they look like my yard:o OOPs I meant to say how much they look chickweed!

Did I hear somebody mention Speedwells over on the West coast? Hey there Larry (crewl1), I knew they could be found most places around here, but I didn't even imagine them being in LA! (beautiful shots by the way! oh, and yours too Tom!)
Here's a shot of some in my front yard just before I mowed the grass for the first time this year. I told my wife that I was letting the grass get a good head-start and you'll never guess what else was growing......

Speedwell shot with a Lentar 35mm f2.8 M42 lens mounted on my Tamron F 2x converter,

That would be this rig...

I've gotten a few "strange" looks before too, but if I was worried about weird looks I'd never be able to leave the house.

I know what you both mean about how "hazardous" it can be to lay on the ground to take a shot!:D My problem with laying on the ground to shoot is that I tend to fall asleep!:o

Thanks Pete, I was leaning towards the berry theory myself. There were only 4 of them growing in my son's yard so I think I'll hold off on the shortcake for now.

We've got chickweed over here in Pa too. I think I posted some a while back but here's another shot. The little blue?purple? flowers grow in my backyard and I think they may be some kind of ground cover. The little red thing is a little smaller than a pencil eraser but I'm not sure if it's a flower or some type of miniature berry.:hmm: The bic and dime are for the size comparison of the blueish/purple flowers.:DThem's Tiny!

Judging by the quality and the coolness of these photos, I'd say you are getting to know your new M100 really quick and really good!

We had a lot of rain lately and the yard kinda got away from me:lol: The good news is that I found a bunch of different tiny flowers (all over the place:o) that I wouldn't have found otherwise. Here's a couple I can't name but they sure are tiny:cool:

No, I didn't know they were violas:o For quite a while (5 decades) I've always thought they had to be purple. With your reply erkie, plus a little research, plus my parents have them just off the end of the patio, now I do.:)
The ones I shot were much smaller as you can see in the pic with the speedwell right behind it. They are close to pencil eraser size.
Thank you for the help! (ineedallicanget)

I found these all within ten yards of each other growing in a field just down the road.
I posted a shot of the blue ones a while back but it wasn't open yet. just-a-bud. The lens cap (58mm) and the dime are for size comparison. In relation to each other they are pretty much the same size with the Yellow/white one being the biggest:p
The blue ones are called "Persian/Birdseye Speedwell" and the multi-petaled white ones are "Chickweed" according to my "googling".

I finally know what kind of flower somebody is shooting! I owe it all to the high knowledgeability here at the forums. (and Pete:))
Mine are just on the last page before this and they are a lighter shade.
Now, I can understand why I'm HenBit(I've been married a loong time:p) Oops, I mean I have them along the back of our flower patch out front. Pete knew what they were right off the bat. Seems like a ground cover/weed type of thing:hmm: I guess they must be all over the place-kinda like an alien invasion.....

I've been keeping my eye out and finally found a "Tiny Flower". Remember the saying "But wait, there's more"? When I got done shooting the lavander flowers I took one last shot of the hybiscus(?) that was there too.
These are right down the street at a neighbor's and I didn't have far to go which is a good thing considering what I found when I came home and threw the photos up on my computer screen. I was so intent on the lavender ones (about 5mm) that I didn't even see the blue ones (less than
2mm)!
In the first photo you can see a little speck of blue all the way to the right side of the photo.

Anyway, here they are....

Hope this helps:lol:

The photos are just plain beautiful!
I especially like the last one with the bee.

Thank you Pete:) I have an led flashlight that throws a fairly precise "spot" beam that starts out about half an inch and gets wider as you move it away from the subject. It's just one of those little aluminum double A jobbies. It's great for work or looking for stuff behind the fridge or what have you because the light doesn't bounce all over the place.

I guess that when we get to a certain age, re-learning how to tie shoes and some other things becomes necessary:confused: Just so long as I can remember my wife's name and where I put the camera, I'll be okay:rolleyes:

I was playing around with a flashlight and my k10's white balance that day too.
These buds are, technically speaking, "Tiny" flowers:hmm: The first one is the "sharpenend" version of the photo above. The rest are just resized for posting...

Thank you Pete! I do appreciate the kind words.:D Actually you are right about doing a little PP (for some reason that just don't sound right) on this batch. I've been reasonably busy just Taking photos for the last couple weeks which didn't leave much time for photoshop (elements 7). It's 20 after midnight here now and I'm just finishing uploading todays pics and reading my mail. Saturday's my birthday so I should be able con myself some sit down time.:p I believe I will need the better part of a day to get through all the photos of our grand-kids Christmas concert at school and the rest of the photos of them opening their presents at their house + our house + Becky's parents house + and my parents house + and up in Scranton at our daughters house and down in Maryland at our oldest son's house... Well, you get the picture:lol:
Doing a contrast upgrade on this Impatien would be a good start:cool:
