I couldn't remember what photos I'd posted so I had to go back and look. That first pic is a place here in Oklahoma called Red Rock Canyon. It used to be a state park but was turned over to a nearby city a few years ago.

Shooting the K10D at base ISO is a lot like accepting the limitations of slow slide film in order to gain the benefits.

I love a ton of things about this pic, but DANG he's dead-centered! Focus, then compose.

Here's a recent pic from my K10D. It got chosen for a free enlargement by our local camera store. The wind was blowing so hard that day that it was hard to get any flower pics sharp. The ones in the foreground of this pic aren't, but they're close enough. lol |

Sorry, but that is a MASSIVE dodge designed to make people feel better about manipulating their photos. There is processing...and then there is PROCESSING. Shooting straight JPEGs and living with the camera's processing is not the same as stripping out a sky and layering in something more suitable, no matter how much we lie to ourselves and pretend it is.

Agreed! They were all great pics, but I love the lines of the shadows in the first one.

Guess I'll throw another couple of shots into the mix. Both of these were shot with the 18-55 kit lens.

I don't know...I've got a K-01 and it puts out a pretty sweet pic, too. I'd love to try a K3. The K5IIs was tempting, but this is even better. Can't wait to see what else Pentax has coming.

The K10D was the camera that finally convinced me to retire my film cameras and go digital. Though it's ancient in technology terms, I still find it a very satisfying camera. I don't really mind that it's at its best at lower ISOs. In film, I used to shoot Velvia 50 and Kodachrome 25, so I just look at my K10D as the digital equivalent of shooting those types of film and just accept the limitations that go along with that. I like that its size and weight are a good match for my larger zooms. It just feels right. |
